westsider Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Hey, it's a Texas playoff game, not Kentucky, but I stumbled on this on YouTube the other night and it shows a glimpse of how big-time high school football is in Texas. We will catch up once they make some changes at the top of KHSAA.
nees1212 Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 That was pretty cool. 2 thoughts though: 1. Trinity is from Texas, not Hawaii, right? 2. Plano has more cheerleaders than our 5A schools have players.

Plano has more cheerleaders than our 5A schools have players. Trinity is from Texas, however there is a large population of Samoan immigrants in the Euless area. The Haka they do after every game is awesome, very similar to what Hawaii does.
BuddyBW Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 You can't talk Haka without bringing up the All-Blacks.
Xgrad-JAGdad Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 Nothing like a Battlestar Galactica soundtrack to pump you up!

Thanks. :thumb:
westsider Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 2. Plano has more cheerleaders than our 5A schools have players. No doubt ... These are huge schools. The numbers I saw said that Trinity's enrollment is over 2,100 in the top three grades. Plano's is over 2,300 in only grades 11 and 12. A website story on the game put the attendance at 30,000 ...

miragesmack Posted January 10, 2008 Posted January 10, 2008 A website story on the game put the attendance at 30,000 ... That stadium looked empty to me. I know everyone is on one side, but can't imagine 30k on one side of stadium.
westsider Posted January 11, 2008 Author Posted January 11, 2008 That stadium looked empty to me. I know everyone is on one side, but can't imagine 30k on one side of stadium.Actually, Plano looked to have a pretty big crowd on hand, and that's a program with a lot of tradition and fan following. The guy that filmed the game was on the Plano side. I could never get a good look at the Trinity crowd. Still, from what I saw on the video, I would've guessed the crowd to be about 15,000-20,000 or so. Without looking it up, I would guess that Texas Stadium holds at least 60,000 ... half-full would be 30K. I would agree that it didn't look half-full. Everything's bigger in Texas, right? Maybe the tall tales are, too ...

BH53 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 That is a pretty cool video, I had a buddy play in Texas and watched him beat Plano in the play-offs a couple years ago. Football is on a whole new level down there compared to Kentucky.
thsrocks Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 I don't see the people of Texas building a new school everytime enrollment reaches 1,500 or so. Texas state population for 2006 :23,507,783 Kentucky state population for 2006:4,206,074 Ohio: 11,478,006 Indiana: 6,313,520 Tennessee: 6,038,803
