The AP teams (and rankings for that matter) have become a joke.

 

The AP ALL State team should be renamed...

 

 

"The AP ALL Whatever Area Our Voters Cover Team"

 

 

 

 

I know it's kind of long but better defines what the team truly consists of.

Congratulations to A.J. Jones and Hunter Adams from Middlesboro and also Spencer Greer and Monte Merrick from Bell Co.

Just to point out one player who was omitted from recognition.

 

If Will Stein of Trinity who lead his team to a large class state championship while playing against tough competition and completing over 70% of his passes for nearly 3700 yards and 54 touchdowns can not even make honorable mention on this team, I declare that, for whatever reason, the Associated Press' Kentucky All-State team is an utter joke!

 

Trinity played 15 games including a state championship game. How could the sportswriters who vote on this thing not recognize this kid's performance?

The central Kentucky kids got the hose because apparently, no one from that part of the state voted. Kids from Frankfort, Danville, Corbin, Metcalfe County, and Bardstown were left out.

 

Excellent point...I cannot believe that, say EJ Fields did not make the list.

There were some glaring omissions...but don't let that take away from the shine of the honor for those that got recognized. If you made ANY of the teams (AP/C-J/BGP/etc) You have the right to call yourself ALL-STATE. Well done to all that earned this honor!...and also to those that didn't earn the honor...the true honor was the ability to play at all!

No EJ Fields and no Shawn Grimm??? Are you kidding me?

Congrats to all on all of the lists. With 4 All State teams listed many deserving young men recieved recognition. A special shoutout to our guys from NKY. Be proud of your accomplishments and good luck in your future endeavors on and off the field.

I felt that way about Central Kentucky. What about Louisville with Will Stein not even mentioned. Or Frankfort with E.J. Fields not mentioned.

 

Who did vote? There must have been a slew of AP voters from Fort Campbell. They landed three of the twenty four spots on the first team offense and defense.

 

I am not attempting to take anything away from any player named to this team. Congratulations to all of them.

^ I wish there could be some type of "full disclosure" as to who exactly votes...or doesn't vote for these teams...or what criteria is used. I realize that NEVER will there be a squad compiled that does NOT miss a deserving player...but what a mixed bag of nuts!

I guess Maxpreps stats hold no merit for kickers from NKY unless they get to the state finals... :confused:

Who does vote for AP team? Seems like someone posted the list of papers/reporters last year at this time.

Congrats to Jason Nicholson from Dunbar. Very good Punter and Kicker who will be missed next year.
