I know that Matt Smith is not bothered by being left off this list. He has received many accolades and was able to achieve his main goal of being offered a scholarship to UK. He is the first to recognize his teammates for all of their achievements and is thankful that others are recognized by the press and coaches. He is definitely about the team and knowing that his role is to take as many OLineman down so the linebackers can breakthrough.

Your re-post of the eky players that did receive mention or 2nd team probably reinforces the point that the voters didn't see much EKY football(or simply didn't pay attention to anyone unless it was the ball carrier)...some very deserving left off....some mind boggling that ARE listed on any all state team that weren't even the best in the county at their position.

Having seen Matt Smith AND Mister Cobble first hand, I can say that they are among the best D-Linemen I have seen play at the high school level in a good while. Brandon Newman played equally as well in the second game we played against PRP this season (not a factor in the first meeting but got moved around in various positions in the second game).

 

Those three would definitley bolster any college line that they play on.

No it's not sad. You can love the game and still like to see your name in the paper. Are you saying you can't love the game and still like to be recognized for you accomplishments? Now that would be sad.
