I did see him getting the other players water during the game, which I thought was a humble thing for him to do for the other players. I am sure some may think that to be a small effort but for a starter regardless of the sport it is a large step towards leadership. He also encouraged each player as they came off of the floor. I would certainly rather see him laugh about what was being said than react negative. The fans were directing name calling towards other players also. It did not seem to be a big deal to any of the players.

Well, being that Maley is a senior already, he has a short time to do alot to become a true leader on that team.

Ryle wins at St. Henry tonight in Overtime. Maley did not play. St. Henry hit a 3 at the end of regulation to force overtime and had another great look at the end of overtime to win, but could not connect.

Derek recieved a Techinical foul. Faust doesn't usually put a player back in the game after recieving a technical. The point is to teach a lesson.

Sandman, before you start taking shots at 18 year old kids get your facts straight. Leadership comes from example. When Maley got his technicals it wasn't for saying a word or any unsportsmanlike conduct.

At the point in the game when he got his first technical he had blocked several shots in the game. Two of them he blocked off of the backboard. His first tecnical happened during a hustle play when he ran down a player on a break out steal. He went to block the shot and ended up slapping the backboard. It didn't affect the shot. When the technical was called he picked up the ball and bounced it once and caught it. He was upset and dribbled the ball with two hands hard and caught it. For that he was called for his second technical and ejected and missed a game in his Senior year.

A real leader takes his punishment like a man and puts it behind him. Perhaps you should take a lesson from him.

The second T was certainly for unsportsmanlike conduct. He slammed the ball.

 

And if you want to walk down this road, why did the officials have to discuss with him that hanging on the rim during a dead ball is a bad idea? Keep in mind, they gave him a break by not calling a technical foul on that play.

Slamming the ball down is unsportsmanlike conduct. He has been playing varsity ball for 4 years and know how he should react and act during a game. Why are we blaming others (the refs) for him missing a game. Also, as Sandman correctly pointed out he had been talked to about hanging on the rim with no technical being issued.

Let's get this thread back to the game, and away from a kid's technicals.
