It can be proven down on your knees in prayer. If you are serious with God He will be serious with you.

As I said in an earlier thred..... Scientist took some data and determined that a tornado blowing through one end of a junk yard in Texas and a 747 jet coming out the other end was more likely to happen than the big bang.

I don't think either of these possibilities can happen. (without God doing it)

It used to be taught in school before the 60's. If this world has been here for millions of years did we just all of the sudden get smart. i don't think so.

Even Darwin knows now.

Actually evolution being taught in public school started way before then. The Scopes Trial was in the 20's.

Creation thru evolution directed by God

There is no "logic" in believing a mythical sky fairy had anything to do with our existence. Just wishful, hopeful thinking.

I make no bones about it...I believe in God. I also believe in science. I do not believe they are mutually exclusive.

God is all about faith and not about proof. If there was proof of God, everyone would believe in Him and there would be no need for faith.

Do you have a link to your "scientist took some data" claim?

Many things USED to be taught in school...and no longer are. That argument is invalid. Did we all of a sudden "get smart"? No, not all of a sudden, but obtaining more knowledge leads to new conclusions.

In reference to your last sentence, you know that Darwin is deceased, right?

Yes I meant he knows the truth now cause he found out when he died.

Darwin studied to be a minister IIRC. I've never seen anything that referenced Darwin as trying to destroy religion.

On another note, the book "Finding Darwin's God" by Ken Miller a Christian and a Biology professor at Brown University and "The Language of God" by Francis Collins, who worked on the human genome project, are great books by legit scientists who have no problem believing in science and believing in a creator.

“The doorstep to the temple of wisdom is a knowledge of our own ignorance.”

The key words here are "believe." You don't know that they are not mutually exclusive any more than that I know they aren't. If I said it once, i'll say it a million times. Science, in large part, can be tested and proven. In the end, religion is and is going to continue to be simply faith.

Something tells me Ben would be firmly in my camp on this one. I admit my own "ignorance" I am humble enough to admit that I do not know and will never have any way of knowing.

Having steadfast "faith" with closed eyes to any other ideas is not having knowledge of your own igorance, Bird.

Science can be proven...faith doesn't have to be. And science and religion are most certainly not mutually exclusive. You can hang your hat on science if you choose; but at the limits of your science--and there most certainly are limits--lies the realm of God.

You can not understand how we believe what we have not seen. I would suggest it's just as illogical for you to disbelieve that which you cannot possibly know. It's like living in a tin can and refusing to believe that the can is painted blue.

A cop out sewn into the very fabric of the religion.

Science and religion are no more exclusive than they are inclusive. You are simply picking illogical over logical to be in line with your faith.

You're right. Not only can I not understand it - sometimes it simply blows my mind how much someone claiming faith can ignore simply to please that faith.

Ah, and that is where your logic breaks down. I know that there are things I (or anyone) will never know. All the scientific knowledge you have has come, not from your own experimentation, but your faith in the word of others. We have faith in the word of others as well -- intelligent, responsible, and respectable people.

The more I learn about science, the more I realize that there has to be a God. Science does not serve to disprove divine creation. On the contrary, science is a testament to the wonder of creation.

You're right. Not only can I not understand it - sometimes it simply blows my mind how much someone claiming faith can ignore simply to please that faith.
Amazing that someone who professes to stand upon science can have their eyes so closed. You don't disbelieve based on any fact. You desperately refuse to believe. For what reason we'll never know. It really is kind of sad to see though.

 Excuse me. I just do not see refusing to believe that our creator would consider himself all loving yet be capable of allowing us to burn and be tormented for eternity as being desperate. I do not see refusing to believe that a book full of contradictions and unscientfic information which was written by human beings is the undebatable word of God to be desperate. I do not see that believing that Christians are the only group in the world to have their religion right...and any opposing view point is a desperate refusal...to be desperate.
