December 28, 200718 yr Can you give me a Cliff-notes version of why the Post is going away? Gannett (which owns and operates the morning Enquirer) and Scripps (same for the afternoon Post) entered into a 30-year joint operating agreement by which the Enquirer would handle advertising and circulation duties for the Post; it was an option the federal government came up decades ago to allow struggling PM newspapers to try to stay in business. A couple of years ago, Gannett notified Scripps that it would not be interested in extending the JOA upon its expiration. Scripps subsequently announced that when the JOA came to an end, so would the Post. That JOA expires Monday.

December 28, 200718 yr It's the paper I grew up with, and I've always felt the writing was far superior in the sports section to the Enquirer. I'll be picking up a final copy on Monday... This makes me angry to even think about. I've been a loyal subscriber the last 15 years and I honestly don't know what I'm going to do in the mornings now, because I sure as heck am not reading the Enquirer.

December 28, 200718 yr What's the chances of the local Recorders printing more than once a week? I do hate to see the post go also simply because of the NK coverage.The Enquirer has tried to increase it's coverage here but it doesn't come close.:irked:

December 28, 200718 yr My mother bought me my first subscription to the Kentucky Post many moon's ago when I was a Sophomore in high school. I will definitely miss this rag and wish the enquirer was the one going away. They have no respect for Northern Kentucky Sports like the post did. I wish my friend Terry B. the best of luck. JD
