It sounded like free throws were the difference, in the 4th Corbin missed theirs for the most part and Boone Co.was something like 12 for 12. To win these type of games you have to hit these thats why they are called FREE. Four games in four days is tough on all the teams. Hard to believe the beating South put on North to win 3rd place.

Great observation Breeze. The little things add up to be big things most of the time when two teams are very equal in most areas. Boone has a nice team. Not sure how they stack up with Cov Cath, Holmes, etc. They would certainly be near the top of the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th regions.

 

This game with Boone and the Madison Central will only make Corbin harder to deal with this year...Bubba, it was good to see you tonight up in the cheep seats...

Is Donnie McFarland still in coaching?

And remember Boone may just be the 3rd best team in NKY, behind CC and Holmes.

I didn't realize that was Donnie McFarland's son, he was a real thorn in the Hounds' side.

 

Boone really hit some clutch FT's in the last couple of minutes, which ended up being the difference in this closely matched game. It's hard to win four games in four days, especially when playing out of your area, but Boone Co. was a tough minded bunch.

Is Donnie McFarland still in coaching?

Donnie is now a scout at Northern Kentucky University, where his other son David plays (the best defender I have ever seen with my own eyes play basketball), Donnie is also the assistant principal at Boone County High School.

Boone Co if they can get those sophomores more seasoned by year's end will make a run for the 9th Region Title. Popp/Gabbard/Flannery/Earls are going to be major contributors over the next couple years. Krohman seems to be having a great year and McFarland is their mainstay. He is consistent each and every game. Sounds like they have a nice mix of players. I look for these guys to really give Holmes/Highlands/Cov Cath fits in the 9th.

The early projection is that any of the 4 mentioned has a legit chance at the 9th. Its been a while since we've had that many teams with a legit shot.

Boone defeated Knox Central, Adair County, South Laurel and Corbin to win the tourney.

Congrats to Boone on winning a quality tourney. They'll be solid for the next several years, with a lot of talent in the underclasses!!

Very good game. Bubba is right on about the McFarland kid. He is a very nice player. Corbin's kids played hard but came up a little short. Having Crawford as a go to guy in this one would have made a differance. Little Crawford had a good game off the bench. Corbin's kids seem to have a toughness about them which will make them hard to beat at tournament time.

Corbin does have a swagger about them at times. Clint Cashen adds some toughness. Very physical basketball team that will only get better once the big Hound Josh Crawford returns. Coach P might install the Clay County double low stack with Manns and Crawford down near the basket and Johnson, Barley and Smith on the wings.....that is an interesting thought. Manns and Crawford would be hard to handle near the basket.
