Fifth Third Tournament (Lexington Catholic High School)

Featured Replies

I think two teams that could make a run in this tourney that not many people are giving credit to are Christan Co. and Cov Cath. Both very solid teams. Christan Co. does not have a good record but have played one of the toughest schedules in the state. Cov Cath had already knocked off Lex Cath once this year and are a very dangerous team.

The only thing I have asked for this Christmas is an Elliott/Mason Co semi-final. No disrespect meant to any of the other good teams that in the tournament, but that's what I want.

It's good to wish, but Elliott better not look past their first rounder (don't know much about N. Oldham), and especially their potential second rounder vs. Covcath. They're already proven against top flight competition, and Elloitt won't be hanging 90-100 on the boys from Park Hills. This is the 5/3rd Classic, not the EKC Shootout--Good luck to them; it would be fun to see them make some noise against quality opponents!!

Mason and LexCath will make the semis rather easily IMO, and I like CovCath in the third bracket, unless Elliott is as good as advertised by some here on BGP. The top left side looks more unknown, I'm picking Dixie to emerge, but several others (including an unknown or two) in that bracket. Guessing a predictable LC/Mason final with Mason winning handily, unless they're still jet-lagged from the Hawaii trip!! :D

Elliott County would actually play a team from Tenessee if they were fortunate enough to get past the first round and then would play Cov Cath is both teams win thier first two games. But you are right, no game is a guarantee with the quality of teams in this tournament.

Thanks, you're right now that I look at the brackets again.

Is Fifth Third still the sponsor.

I think that Mason will intimidate everyone in the tourney a lil bit. After the teams they beat last week.

I dont believe anybody thats legit will be intimidated.

Bryan Station and Tates Creek didn't look too intimidated against the Royals earlier in the year. I don't think it will be a cakewalk for whoever comes out on top.

If you go to the Lexington Catholic High School web page it sure looks like to me at least, that the 5th/3rd Bank is still a major sponsor....

Will the games be broadcast on the Internet ?

If Paintsville beats Shaler, PA or Boyle Co. would they play Catholic in the quarters?

Watch out for Lincoln County, those boys are starting to play some ball

That they are indeed:thumb:

In this era of high school basketball the top teams & kids have played against so much quality competition in AAU since they were 9&10 year olds they will not be intimidated.

Grace Academy features 6'10" Liberty Commitment Carter McMasters. He is a 3 star recruit according to Rivals and is a very good player. He is a Euro type player that looks as if he has modeled his game after Dirk. Very good shooter and overall great player. Will be a tough matchup for anyone.

This is the #1 tournament in the Commonwealth. It should make for some really fun match ups to watch.
