December 20, 200718 yr http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=320277 What he said... Very well done. For those BCG detractors...a must read... Tried eliminating the "e" in DeCoursy in title...couldn't do it. "Ten years of mismanagement".....comparison to UNC and UCLA are interesting parallels.
December 20, 200718 yr He summed up my feelings quite nicely. Gillispie is a very good basketball coach...not a miracle worker. He'll have UK basketball at a level that UK fans want and expect, if they'll give him time to do it.
December 20, 200718 yr Gillispie is trying to change the culture of a program whose players acted as though they were special because Kentucky recruited them. (Fellas, under Smith, that wasn't such a big deal. If you were all that great, you'd have had Carolina or Kansas chasing you in 10th grade). He is trying to accomplish this with his team wracked by injuries, including those that have kept his three most talented players -- wing Jodie Meeks, guard Derrick Jasper and forward Patrick Patterson -- down for a combined 16 games. Trying to install a culture of effort rather than entitlement has been more public than any coach would prefer, but entirely necessary. AMen:thumb: Kentucky is not the first program to endure this process. It's not even the first elite program. In the past decade, every one of college basketball's country-club programs save Kansas -- UCLA, Indiana, North Carolina and now the Wildcats -- has undergone revolutionary change that produced sub-.500 seasons. The situation at Kentucky now is quite a bit like what Matt Doherty faced early in his short tenure at North Carolina: recruiting had been deficient for several years, and the coach who tried to push those players harder was not easily embraced as the losses mounted. Being saying this for 3 years now. UK will be fine.
December 20, 200718 yr Great article. Why? B/c it's complimentary to UK? (Haven't you guys missed me? LOL) Do you think it's well written? Is that what makes it great?
December 20, 200718 yr Found this statement interesting. What is he talking about here? when the school gave Tubby Smith a couple mil to go find another job, and the UK administration became intoxicated with the idea of hiring the hottest coach of the moment,

December 20, 200718 yr Found this statement interesting. What is he talking about here? when the school gave Tubby Smith a couple mil to go find another job, and the UK administration became intoxicated with the idea of hiring the hottest coach of the moment, I was wondering about that one as well. Maybe he was brainwashed into thinking that Tubby was fired. A lot of people act like he was.
December 20, 200718 yr No.. not so much. I think its a solid analysis of both the current situation and what led up to it. Do you disagree? No I just think it's funny if you go read any article that is complimentary of anything at uk, that there will be 5-10 posts just like yours. Great article, so on and so forth. Put something on here that is anti-uk or anyone that has anything to do with uk, and there will be 10-15 posts about how bad of a writer that person is and how biased they are and how they don't get it, you get the picture, it's funny really.

None of which is worse than you defending a coach that has multiple NCAA violations, regardless of severity or "level" of violation...:fire::fire:

December 20, 200718 yr Or maybe there was something going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. I doubt he's got evidence of something like that and just casually throws it out like its common knowledge. UK paying Tubby to resign would be a story of its own.
December 20, 200718 yr I was wondering about that one as well. Maybe he was brainwashed into thinking that Tubby was fired. A lot of people act like he was. Yeah, Tubby was under no pressure whatsoever. He did what anybody else in their right mind would do: Looked around, surveyed his situation, realized he wasn't wanted, and went somewhere he was wanted. Just because he wasn't explicitly fired doesn't mean he wasn't forced out.
