2 OSU players out for LSU game...?

Featured Replies

I'm just glad that OSU will finally have a legit non-conference game (USC) on their schedule in 2008, so we won't have to worry about them sliding into another BCS title game and getting hammered by an SEC team.

Since 1998 Ohio State has played the following OOC teams

1998 - @ No. 11 West Va. and No. 21 Mizzou

1999 - No. 12 Miami and No. 14 UCLA

2001 - @ No. 12 UCLA

2002 - No. 10 Washington St

2003 - No. 17 Washington and No. 24 NC State

2004 - @ NC State

2005 - No. 2 Texas

2006 - @ No. 2 Texas

Yes this years OOC sched for Ohio State Sucked a big mule ..... However to say they have finally schedule a legit OOC opponent is more than over the top.

Oh and by the way here some future OOC opponents for the Buckeyes

2008-2009 USC (Trojans)

2010-2011 Miami (Fla)

2012-2013 California

2014-2015 Virginia Tech

2015-2017 Oklahoma

This years "supposed to be tuff" game (Washington) turned out to be a real dud. When it was scheduled Washington was on the upswing and 7-8 years ago this looked like a real good game. Same thing for The "U" in 2010 and 2011. Doesn't look real good now, hopefully they can get things turned around.

As a life long Buckeye Fan and Alum I have always wanted to see my team play the best competition. Last year I was elated that we play an undefeated Wolverine team in "The Game" and was tickled to death that Ohio State would get to take on Florida in the NC game. I make no excuses for the Bucks. They got their preverbial hind ends kicked in that game and now have had to listen to all the anti-Ohio State stuff since that fatefull day in the desert.

I believe that OSU will come out and play a very good game on Jan 7th against LSU. Ironically a team I have always enjoyed watching. There fans are some of the best in all of college football. I have even expressed my desire to someday attend a LSU game in "Death Valley" Back to the game. tOSU matches up very well with LSU (much better than Florida). Will the Bucks win, I don't know, I hope so. I think the chip on their shoulder is very similar to the one they carried into the '02 'ship. You remember, "OSU doesn't have a chance" or "Tell Miami to order the rings" or better yet a current popular phrase, "Ohio State does not have the speed to play with 'em."

I truely think that the intangibles are with the Bucks, They do have something to prove. Either way I am looking forward to a great college football bowl season ending in what I hope is an 8th Nat'l Title for The Ohio State Buckeyes.

Go Bucks!

That's exactly what I was thinking when I first saw this story.

However, if LSU wins by 40 or 50, I think it will be hard for any tOSU fan to say anything about any other team or conference.

I am a SEC conference fan as well and I full well know that the SEC is the better overall football conference. don't see howe anyone could say that they are not.

Ohio State just happens to be my favorite NCAA team and not necessarily the Big10 conference. I know it is hard for some to grasp that but it is possible.....:thumb:

Great Post BuckNut! :ylsuper:

The spread is only 4 for this game. While I don't think Ohio State belongs in the National Championship at all I think it's going to be closer than people think. LSU has been blown up all year but lets be honest UK physically dominated them when they were healthy this year. They aren't healthy now. This team isn't Florida that waxed the Bucs! They have a lot of talent and should win the game but I don't think Miles is as good of a coach as Myer and I don't think LSU is as good as that Florida team. The Bucs aren't nearly as good either but really this should have been a rebuilding year. I'm not so sure Mizzo wouldn't have beaten them both but they didn't even make a BCS game. As bad as the BCS is the confrence championship vs the non confrence championship is just as big of a mess IMO! Bucs play in one and they probably aren't in the BCS. Mizzo doesn't play in one and they might be in the National Championship game.

According to ESPN.com and the latest on The O-zone.

Eugene Clifford is the only one suspended.

Washington will play in the NC Game. However his back up is fresman Chimdi Chekwa. Andre Amos or Jamario O'Neal currently are the 3/4 at corner.

ESPN reported both supended earlier. Great reporting work again by that crew , I made the mistake of believing their first report.

Very interesting.

Maybe so, Like I said I believed the 1st ESPN report and considering thier record of reporting "facts" before they get all of them I should have known better. If that was not the case I apologize for "jumping the gun". My comments on Tressel do not change though. Tressel is as class act of a coach as there is. There are certainly others as well but Tressel is definately in that group.

:sssh:Yea, I know. The starter gets to play and the back up sits. It all sounds very suspicious. Probably has something to do with 'global warming' Might as well blame that on the Buckeyes as well.

:thumb: I know, hey wait a minute.....It is Tubby Smith's fault!!

Cville, Rambler and other Buckeyes. This is a great sight for the OSU fan. Completely free and very good.

IMO I really did not think that Ohio State was that good last year, but the way things played out, the Bucks wound up in the title game. Personally I don't favor a conference championship because IMO it makes the regular season less meaningful. You can lose a game and still get into your conf. title game. Look at SEC champ. Did Tenn. really belong? I don't know but if you make the argument that OSU doesn't deserve to be in the NC game, then don't you have to make the same argument about Tenn. "backing" into the SEC championship? Just wondering?

I have always been against a conf. championship and a playoff because I want the intensity that college football brings each and every week. Look at college basketball. While there are some great match ups. The results are not that important in the grand scheme of things.

Look at tonights BB game between Pitt and Duke. Great game, fantastic finish, but it just doesn't matter because both teams will make the NCAA tourn. with a legit shot to win it all.

Anyway I am going to get back to the Navy/Utah game.

It really is the most wonderful time of the year!

Tennessee backed into the SEC championship in a field of six, OSU in a much larger pool of teams. That is the difference, terrible analogy IMO.

You are correct, it is a great site. I have it in my favorites list.

Only Eugene Clifford is suspended. Thats not much of a loss. Losing Washington would have been huge. It looks like it was a false report saying that he was suspended.

And to whoever said we would be ok with Oneal at CB... WRONG. O'neal is a decent/average safety... and is/would be a BAD corner.

Sounds like the Vest twisted a team rule up a little bit to make sure the backup takes the fall and the starter, of course, is innocent. Funny how that works out.

Of course, that is pure speculation and just my opinion. :thumb:

Well, the word going around on some of the OSU message boards is that Clifford tested positive for the reefer... It was a Columbus news source that said both players were suspended, not the school.

Well, the word going around on some of the OSU message boards is that Clifford tested positive for the reefer... It was a Columbus news source that said both players were suspended, not the school.

But when the school was contacted about the suspensions, they had no comment. Then later in the day, they say only Clifford is suspended. Why not set the record straight first thing in the morning when the story broke? Something just doesn't pass the smell test.
