I hate when a coach accepts a new job...

Featured Replies

I hate when a coach accepts a new job, and does not coach his previous team in their upcoming Bowl game. Rich Rodriguez's players worked their tail off to get to this game and they will now be playing without their head coach. I understand the importance of recruiting and how a coach needs to start right away- I just think it stinks for the players, the program, and the fans. (I know that Rich Rodriguez is not the first to do this, it just seems as though everybody is looking for what's next)

I agree. :thumb:

If they've threatened to burn down his house he may want to get out as fast as he can.

I think its a very weird thing to work all year long to get to a BCS bowl game and then jet before obtaining the goal. That's just like saying "hey, sorry guys, all I care about is myself. Good luck!"

Its funny how the team that gets the coach never talks about "the right thing to do" or about "loyalty". I am sure Michigan wouldn't like it if they had a coach that was good enough to be lured away and it happened.

Don't kid yourself....Carr was/is a good enough coach to be lured away by lots of schools...

The only way to prevent this from happening is to make a rule prohibiting hiring a new coach until after all bowl games are played.

True...I meant hypothetically.

AMEN!

Great Idea!!!!

AMEN!

I can understand not being able to control coaches leaving college programs to go to the NFL as they are two separate businesses. But the NCAA can restrict this between schools and from bringing coaches from the professional ranks.

I know I should know this but I dont. Does a school have to release so he can become coach at a different school?

I find it amusing that everyone thinks that it is so terrible that this happens. They've called RR everything but a white man, sent death threats to him and his family, and threatened to burn down his house. Would YOU want to hang around??

As far as the kids and the program (the fans should get no say in this), I can't see how you'd think it would be better for them if RR stayed. Is it going to help the program if RR coaches the bowl game, thus preventing whomever is coming in next year from recruiting and getting to know what he has in his players? Will it help the kids that if RR coached the bowl game all of the focus would be on HIM and not the KIDS?

Sorry, this has always just irked me in any instance. What's best for all parties involved is to move on......

Very disloyal to do this.
