I find it amusing that everyone thinks that it is so terrible that this happens. They've called RR everything but a white man, sent death threats to him and his family, and threatened to burn down his house. Would YOU want to hang around??

 

As far as the kids and the program (the fans should get no say in this), I can't see how you'd think it would be better for them if RR stayed. Is it going to help the program if RR coaches the bowl game, thus preventing whomever is coming in next year from recruiting and getting to know what he has in his players? Will it help the kids that if RR coached the bowl game all of the focus would be on HIM and not the KIDS?

 

Sorry, this has always just irked me in any instance. What's best for all parties involved is to move on......

Just one more thing I blame the Bowl games for... IMO If it were a playoff system it would be unheard of to hire a coach who's team was involved in the playoffs, but as it stands now the season is basically over for any team not named LSU or OSU...

I'm a person who pulls hard for both WVU and Kentucky, as a WVU fan I have mixed emotions on this.

First thought is these kids have worked hard to make it to this point and deserve the best, that is plain and simple.

But when he left he was hackled big time by fans at air port, and for his safety it seriously is best, Im a realist and understand that. I know I wouldn't want to be in that situation, they are crazy up there. WVU fans are pretty radical and pretty passionate.

So honestly I can understand both sides, as far as him not wanting it to be a distraction and that is the reason why, well I dont buy that because it will still be a distraction.

I also believe that a playoff system would eliminate some this ship jumping, and I do not blame Rich Rodriguez for wanting to leave with all the harassment he has endured. I just think when you are asking kids to buy in, make a committment to the team, sacrifice themselves for the team, and constantly telling them finish what they start- The head coach should be there to fulfill his commitment-

Remember when Frieder was coaching basketball at Michigan and he accepted a job at Arizona State. He wanted to finish the year out but Bo Schm (AD) told him to go right now and gave the job to Fisher, who took them to the title.

I know that would be an awkward situation for everybody-I just think if there was a way for college coaches, who are still playing, to be able to finish their season, without the interference of other job offers, would be beneficial to everyone invovled. I understand there about 100 things wrong with this idea, but I think these players deserve to end their season by finishing what they started.

Anytime a Coach leaves, timing will be an issue. I see no problem with a coach excepting another college position, after his regular season has ended. This is when a lot of upcoming recruiting coordination is done and implementing of his staff, programs and transition to the new job.
