From what I understand ,Setty, Pawsat, Gilbert and the King boys from Deming are forming a team. Why would they tryout for a team when they already have one. I'm a little confused!

I am kind of suprised that Deming has moved the twins down to play in the Freshman tourny. I would think that with them being such an integral part of the varsity black devils that they wouldn't take a chance on them getting hurt. Deming has the chance to actually compete for a district title for the first time in quite a while with their win over Harrison earlier in the season. Don't be stupid folks, compete for the one that really counts!

 

An interesting side note. I recently heard that the twins were going to play on an all star team this Summer with Setty, Pawsat and Gilbert from Mason Co. and 2 kids from Lexington. This should be quite a team and a fun one to watch.

 

They were not pulled down. They have played in all the Freshman games that Deming has had. If they did not play then they would not have enough to field a team. Would that be fair to the other Freshman?

The more a kid plays at any level the better they are going to be in the long run. If you are a freshman and your coach wants you to play freshman, jayvee, and varsity and your body is able to sustain it, then you will no doubt become better.

I agree. It would be an easy win for Harrison Co. or Nicholas Co. for that matter in the 38th district if one of those boys should get hurt. I'm sorry I didn't realize that Freshman ball was all that important. I would think that making it to THE regional tournament or even winning district would mean a lot more to the school and the money it would bring in would be especially nice for all the athletic programs at Deming, which in the long hall would benefit alot more than the 4 other kids (earlier in the thread it was stated the there are only 7 on the team and Caldwell plays varsity as well) who play on Deming's freshman team.

I would be willing to bet that Coach Humphrey woiuld not allow Robie Stenzel to play in this freshman tourney. With that being said different coaches have different priorities.

The King boys have played on the same team as Setty, Pawsat and Gilbert this past summer, so they have played together before, and sounds like they are probably going to do it again. They won the state AAU basketball I think, and went on to nationals.

Sorry to inform you but Setty, Pawsat and Gilbert played with the Mason Co AAU team until the AAU State Tournament was over and then Setty played with the Derrick Smith team from Louisville the rest of the summer and played in the Nationals in Florida with them. I don't think the Mason team won the AAU State tournament either. :banana:

Someone very close to the team informed me that the King boys played with some of the Mason County players. I did not say that it was a Mason County team.

Mason freshman advance to region finals against Campbell Co. with a win over Deming 47 to 36. Treg Setty led the Royals with 18, Jordan Gilbert chipped in 13. The Royals (19-1) play in the finals Thursday night at 7pm.
