December 16, 200718 yr Even for an ardent pro-choice Democrat, Barack Obama has taken some extreme positions in the name of protecting a "woman's right to choose." Will Obama's extreme actions while an Illinois state senator cost him any chance at the presidency? I find it hard to believe that a candidate who actively blocked legislation against infanticide could be elected President. As a nurse at an Illinois hospital in 1999, I discovered babies were being aborted alive and shelved to die in soiled utility rooms. I discovered infanticide. Legislation was presented on the federal level and in various states called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. It stated all live-born babies were guaranteed the same constitutional right to equal protection, whether or not they were wanted. BAIPA sailed through the U.S. Senate by unanimous vote. Even Sens. Clinton, Kennedy and Kerry agreed a mother's right to "choose" stopped at her baby's delivery. The bill also passed overwhelmingly in the House. NARAL went neutral on it. Abortion enthusiasts publicly agreed that fighting BAIPA would appear extreme. President Bush signed BAIPA into law in 2002. But in Illinois, the state version of BAIPA repeatedly failed, thanks in large part to then-state Sen. Barack Obama. It only passed in 2005, after Obama left. Why Jesus would not vote for Barack Obama
December 16, 200718 yr Jesus might not vote for Obama but I bet he would be pulling for him to win the Democratic primary if you get my drift................:sssh:
December 16, 200718 yr Author Jesus might not vote for Obama but I bet he would be pulling for him to win the Democratic primary if you get my drift................:sssh:I wonder if Hillary has decided who will attack Obama on this position so that she can simultaneously defend Obama and paint herself as a "moderate" on the abortion issue. If there was a pool, I think that my money would be on Bill's chum, former President George Herbert Walker Bush. We can't have a non-ClintonBush candidate elected, can we?:sssh:
December 18, 200718 yr Author You took an OPINION column from a skewed news source which is obviously going to try to pin Obama as a baby killer. He was opposed to legislation that would have allowed medical care for fetuses that survive abortion. Think about it, that means all fetuses regardless of stage. The bill in question defined a fetus as a child and thus was a direct attack on Roe v. Wade. Midway through this article we get this about said bill. Obama — who joined several other Democrats in voting "present" in 2001 and "no" the next year — argued the legislation was worded in a way that unconstitutionally threatened a woman's right to abortion by defining the fetus as a child. "It would essentially bar abortions because the equal protection clause does not allow somebody to kill a child, and if this was a child then this would be an anti-abortion statute," Obama said in the Senate's debate in March 2001. Now obviously you think abortion is wrong, and so do I, but try getting a more concrete source. WND is going to attack any pro-choice candidate. In fact, the National Organization of Women of Illinois don't like Obama that much because he isn't pro-choice enough. The author of the column is a former nurse who witnessed the procedures that she describes. Here is the sworn testimony of Jill Stanek and Allison Baker before the SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE CONSTITUTION, Committee on the Judiciary of the US House of Representatives. Obama seems to be saying that a baby who survives a botched abortion is not a "chilld," and therefor not entitled to the protections of the US Constitution. I cannot think of greater evil than condoning the intentional deaths of innocent newborns to score political points.
December 18, 200718 yr It is laughable to think that anyone knows who Jesus would or would not vote for. We really think highly of ourselves, don't we?
December 18, 200718 yr It is laughable to think that anyone knows who Jesus would or would not vote for. We really think highly of ourselves, don't we? Do we really think that Jesus would vote for any of these politicians?
December 18, 200718 yr Do we really think that Jesus would vote for any of these politicians? I am not sure Jesus would vote at all.
December 18, 200718 yr Jesus cared soooo much about the politics of his day that he overthrew the Roman Empire!!! Oh, wait.........her was more concerned about the people's relationship with him. Now I see.

December 18, 200718 yr Author While Jesus may not have voted or endorsed a candidate had he lived in a democracy, I am pretty sure that he would not have hesitated to condemn the practice of infanticide. Are titletownclown and I the only members who believe that this will be a big issue at some point in the campaign?

I agree with you, you didn't say that Jesus would vote for a certain candidate, simply that he wouldn't vote for this one.
December 19, 200718 yr It is chutzpah of the highest caliber for this woman to assume she knows who Jesus would vote for under any circumstances.
December 19, 200718 yr It is chutzpah of the highest caliber for this woman to assume she knows who Jesus would vote for under any circumstances. She knows who he won't vote for. I think there is a difference.
December 20, 200718 yr She knows who he won't vote for. I think there is a difference. Not much of one. It makes it seem as though He would be more likely to vote for someone else...and who would that be? Candidates that support the death penalty? Those that promote staying in a war?
