Jim Edmonds traded to the Padres

Featured Replies

Wow. I know Jim is old but he's still got some left in him.

Hello Cubs back 2 back NL central champs :D

David Freese is a good pick up for the Cardinals. May be surprising that the front office traded Edmonds for one player that is a minor leaguer, but this guy, IMO, is ready to play.

This one kind of surprised me to. Didn't see him going for just 1 minor leaguer.

Wasn't St. Louis very, very fond of Jim Edmonds? I always thought of him as like the face of the franchise.

Either way this probably just a step to getting rid of Scott Rolen.

Jim Edmonds is fan favorite in St. Louis. I believe he was traded to get something for him because he has said that he'll probably retire after next season.

Also I think this was done in case things don't work out with Scott Rolen.

It is just for one player but it does free up cash for them to possible spend on pitching plus it opens up an opprotunity for Rasmus at the ML level.

St. Louis fans love Edmonds. Edmonds told the front office he would waive his no trade clause if they could get him to Southern California.

St Louis just wont spend the money to win anymore

Anymore? they never have been a big spender. They have always been towards the middle when it comes to salaries.

Seemed like they spent more money when they were own by Busch, maybe I dont know what I'm talking about but whatever :D

They weren't much of a spending team when they were own by Anheuser Busch either.
