I have mixed feelings about Coach Listerman, both good and bad. That is not the topic of this thread so I will not go any further.

The Raiders were never in the bonus and had to deal with as much contact as they gave. I know that the officials are biased to Cov. Cath. I've been around the 9th region a long time and I don't think I've ever seen a ref control Listerman like he should be. I make it no secret, I can't stand Cov. Cath and Listerman is the main reason why.

The blind hatred for CCH in this thread is comical to say the least. No one here obviously knows Coach L because if you did you'd know he's a great guy who absolutely loves what he does. He's extremely personable and loves helping his kids not only on the court but in the classroom as well. To see grown men making posts alleging a CCH bias by the refs with statements like "always have always will" and the like, is hilarious. Whatever it takes for you to sleep at night though, right?

By the way, if CCH does get more calls, it's because Coach L knows what he's doing. I think that falls under the category of good coaching. The refs control the game and if Listerman ever got out of line, he'd get the same treatment any other coach would receive.

You"re failure to comment on CCH fans statements like "joke of a program" when you squeek out a win shows your bias as well.

This whole thread is a joke

Back to the real issue. Ryle has lost close games in the 4th period. Up to that point they have many times controled the game. They are bigger than most teams they have faced. What is going on with them???? It looked to me that they were trying to shoot with Cov Cath and at least in this game they were not going to match up at all shot for shot. I think if they had went inside the out come may have been different. Any other opinions??

It was by far not the greatest strategy to not use Mailey. There is no way Grimes could guard him in the post.

Some of you are in real danger of having their posting privileges taken away. I suggest some of you go back and read over the rules. :irked:

That was one fans opinion. The vast majority of CCH fans respects Ryle. Just because most CCH fans thought that CCH would beat Ryle does not mean CCH doesn't respect them. Ryle should walk away from this game knowing that they can beat the top teams in the region. They should not think that they lost due to the " refs bias towards CCH ".

Travis Rasso of Boone, Jeff Hudgens of Conner, Pete Mailey from Ryle, those names ring a bell?

It's surprising that, with your vast knowledge of the 9th, you named 3 solid players on mediocre teams. Rasso & Hudgens both graduated in '04. Pete Maley, who is the older brother of current Ryle Raider Jon Maley, graduated in '98. Those names are all too familiar to me; however, TheOldGuy's memory goes back quite a bit longer than most (assuming he can actually remember ;)).

If you want to talk history of the 9th, then mention George Schloemer and his "little" brother Doug. Or Dicky Beal. Or Dave Cowens. Or Ronny Dawn. I think you get the point...

Now back to the game:

Listerman has been doing the same things on the sideline ever since he took over at Covington Catholic. Actually, before then. I, like cshs, find it incredibly hard to believe that Listerman would curse at an official. I find it even more difficult to believe that he'd do so loud enough so other people could hear it. Say what you want about Coach L, but he's a classy guy who truly cares about the kids on the floor, whether or not they're wearing a Covington Catholic jersey. Just because he likes to put his arm around officials doesn't mean they're going to give him the next call. Admittedly, he works the refs and goes to battle for his players. Isn't that what a coach is supposed to do, though? If Listerman gets you that worked out, I sure hope you never face Scott County & Coach Billy Hicks on their home court. Part of the game, though.

How many players does Cov Cath have in their regular rotation? I read where this team is not as deep as past teams, but find it hard to believe for Coach L to sit still long enough not to play at least 8-9 this early in the season.

After reviewing the predictions, looks like there are a lot of SHOCKED people in Park Hills today. I mean, when you have to come from behind to squeek by a "joke of a program", they sure have to be doubting their own program.

I went through the prediction thread and most of the people calling for a big win were not CovCath posters. There was one shot at Ryle's progam, but I wouldn't lump all CovCath fans in that group.

By the way, congrats to the football team at Ryle for adding two CovCath grads to the ranks. They have been succesful at all stops on their coaching careers.

An early Christmas present, I see: A post by our old friend ColonelCrazy!

DD, you have emabarrsed the Ryle football program before with your antics, please dont do it to the basketball team. Not all Ryle fans have your views.
