Roster Contributors?

Featured Replies

Of your total roster, how many of those kids were contributors in the state championship game. For example if you have 70 kids dressed but only 29 played meaningful minutes. Would love to know.

They're all contributors. Whether they see the field, or work hard in practice to make themselves and their teammates better. Football is the epitome of a team sport, and those that succeed are the ones that realize that.

Well stated.

That is a true statement and well said, but that is not what he was asking for. He was asking how many kids actually get on the field during the state championship game.

I couldn't agree more, however I am curious to see the number of kids that actualy played meaningful minutes in these games.

I would say that 1A schools played a high percentage of their rosters, but is that the same for 6A schools? Did freshmen get action in LC's romp over LO?

Just trying to see how many kids actualy played in relation to the number on a roster.

I don't think he/she meant it bad. Think they just would be curious to see numbers of a 100+ team to a 50+ team. I would be interested in seeing this as well.

This is why I am a fan of programs like Highlands and people wonder why they win. One Team, One Goal, One Heartbeat. Malachicrunch, this has to be one of the best post I've seen on here in a long time! :ylsuper:

Change the question.....How many players went both ways?

No, I want to know how many of each teams roster actualy played valuable minutes in the championship games. Special teams, O, and D.

OK, then you aren't going to get an answer. Although, your guess of around 29 is reasonable for about any team. Maybe a little high for some, low for others.

The problem with your question is the definition of "valuable minutes".

Perhaps you want to know how many players actually played in the game.

I checked the KHSAA site and they don't have the participation numbers. Another site did but take these with a grain of salt that these are players who achieved a stat- one tackle, one pass, etc. For example, very few offensive lineman are listed unless they play defense.

thanks Jimmyref, that is the closest thing to what i was looking for.

Family, let me answer by giving you an approximate from Lexington Catholic.

This year probably 35-40 played "meaningful" minutes on Offense, Defense, and Special Teams, but this year was an anomaly. On average the last 5 or 6 years(including the 2005 Championship year) that number is closer to the mid-high 20's.

Add lineman not playing both ways and 29 is a good guess.
