What about the JFK assassination movies? I don't want to get into all the conspiracy issues. Just show them what happened.

Oliver Stone's JFK is not one to put on the list. The majority of the movie has pretty much been deemed a fraud/lie.

Sergeant York. It was embellished somewhat for drama, but the storyline was close to accurate.

 

Apollo 13. I sweated through that one as it happened, and the movie did a good job.

 

My dad served under General George Patton. That movie touched a nerve in him.

 

Saving Private Ryan's Normandy beach invasion. All the old vets I've seen interviewed about the film said it was very accurate in what occured that morning, and more realistic than any war movie ever made about the war they had to endear. My dad was at Normandy too, but it was difficult to get him to say much about it.

Ghosts is a true story about NAACP leader Medger Evers who was killed in the 60's and his murderer was acquitted, only to be retried in the 90's. It is a great civil rights movies.
