They needed to do this.If I'm a recruit and a guy who hasn't coached in 10yrs, is actively pursuing me for Nebraska, I'm sorry but I don't get too excited. He was one of the best, during his 70's-97's tenure but 10yrs and a lot has changed. I don't see it helping too much, other than in state talent, who's fathers will be telling their sons about him.

November 29, 200718 yr All of whom could and likely will not be at Nebraska soon...Nonetheless, I would presume some are still there and have the role, of contacting potential recruits.
November 29, 200718 yr I understand why he's doing it and I'm not sure who a better choice would be but I don't think that a recuit outside of the state of Nebraska a)knows who Coach Tom is and/or b)is going to get very excited by a visit. They may like what they hear as far as the message being delivered but the messenger isn't going to carry a lot of clout.
