November 29, 200718 yr [/b] Who would Wisconsin play from the SEC? I believe I saw somewhere that if LSU beats UT, it will most likely be the Vols.
November 29, 200718 yr Author I believe I saw somewhere that if LSU beats UT, it will most likely be the Vols. I've seen the same scenario. It's wild how so much is still so up in the air and how many potential matchups there are. Depending on how LSU/TN turns out, there is just no way to tell. No matter how unlikely, it is possible for LSU, TN, Auburn, Arkansas, or UK to end up in this game.
November 29, 200718 yr I'm not arguing your points, in general, but UCLA deserves (and will get) a bowl bid. Even losing to USC and falling to 6-6, they deserve a bid. Wins over CAL, BYU, and Oregon get their ticket punched. If they only have 6 wins, and 1 of their losses was to a sorry Notre Dame team, I dont think they deserve. :irked:
November 29, 200718 yr If they only have 6 wins, and 1 of their losses was to a sorry Notre Dame team, I dont think they deserve. :irked: If you lost to ND this year you dont deserve a bowl game. Actually they should be part of a 4 team playoff for the toilet bowl which would look like this. Nebraska vs Notre Dame Alabama vs UCLA The 2 winners meet in the 2007 TBC (Toilet Bowl Championship) Finals.
November 29, 200718 yr Author Remember you don't have to have 7 wins if you conference already has bowl tie-ins. For example, the last SEC tie-in is the Independence Bowl. It will choose between Alabama and South Carolina, both of which have six wins. My projections say the Armed Forces Bowl and Texas Bowl are the only two that will have an at-large opening. Look for Purdue or Indiana (whichever doesn't get picked by a Big Ten bowl) to land in the Armed Forces and then TCU will get picked up by the Texas Bowl. If Troy doesn't win their conference, they have ZERO chance of making a bowl. Apparently I have misinterpereted the NCAA rule. I thought all 7 win teams went no matter what. But I now see that I was wrong. However, if Illinois ends up in the Rose bowl as some have projected. Indiana and Purdue would both go to Big 10 bowls. I believe that would leave TCU and Troy as the only two teams with 7+ wins to fill the Texas Bowl and the Armed Forces Bowl.
November 29, 200718 yr These bowl games kill me. Can Morehead State start the Morehead Bowl and just invite two 6-6 teams in?
November 29, 200718 yr I've been fighting with a large number of them for days now. I doubt there are any more than 2,000 that make the trip. The good news is it will lead to UC getting screwed again next year... :irked:Everything I read, regarding the Sun Bowl, indicated that they went with USF because of TV market size (Tampa Bay Area #13, Cincinnati Area #33) as opposed to who will travel. I know in the case of the Outback (always a sell out), the locals usually buy the vast majority of the tickets. From what I understand, the Sun Bowl is the same way. However, the Hilton next to the stadium is filling up fast. gt, if there is a way you can do it, check the Nielson and Arbitron ratings for the last year's papajohns.com Bowl, especially the numbers in the Tampa Bay Area. My point is, given the day the game is played on, this bowl could actually be a plus for UC. Only game in town type stuff.
November 29, 200718 yr If they only have 6 wins, and 1 of their losses was to a sorry Notre Dame team, I dont think they deserve. :irked: Fair point, although much like the mulligan people are giving WVU when White went down v. USF, UCLA should be given similar consideration.

I figured Rutgers would have accepted the International Bowl by now, but it appears they are going to wait until after the Louisville game. Everyone else is waiting on the outcomes of other games and bowl selections.

I was listening to West Virginia State Sportline radio show earlier and they said it had just came across wire that Rutgers accepted the invitation.
