Curtis Pulley

Featured Replies

I know this season is not over with and the Cats still have their bowl game to play, but with senior day yesterday and the end of the regular season I know a lot of UK fans, myself included, are thinking about next season. Andre Woodson will obviously be gone next season, and his current backup is Mike Hartline. But if Pulley returns would he be the starter?

I would just like to know what his situation is at present. I know that he redshirted this season and I believe he has been practicing with the team all year, but what is his status for next season?

With him in the lineup UK could potentially run a spread style offense with Pulley at QB and Locke, Alfonso Smith, and Tony Dixon in the back field.

Another question would be, is Pulley even the starter? Or has Hartline or someone else done enough to claim the job.

Granted UK still has one game to play, but I just thought I would get your take?

From everything I've read Pulley will be the #1 QB going into spring practice next year.

Do you all think UK will adopt more of a spread (ala WVU, Florida, or Oregon) type of offense if Pulley is the starter, or will we stick to our current more traditional scheme?

The bar has been set pretty low for Pulley to come back and to step into the #1 spot on the QB depth chart.

How so?

I agree the bar has to be pretty high with a guy like Woodson occupying the job before.

Ummmm, from everything I have read he is back on the team and is th starter next year...

I understand what you're saying that he could miss a full year and said to be the starter. However, we all know that Pulley had actually beat Woodson out for the number one spot. I'm sure that is what most of us UK fans are hoping for, that Puley would be back to that point. Although that would be pretty wishful thinking.

My comments have been misread... I mean that the QBs currently active for UK have not shown that they're anywhere near ready to lead an SEC team. I don't think Pulley's that great a QB (wrong position, sorry) but he's a lot closer than the other guys on the roster.

That argument doesn't make much sense though.

Curtis has been running the scout team all year from what I understand, and thats just as much action as anybody else has gotten.

Hartline threw 6 passes in game situations this year. I don't think that gives him a big advantage over Curtis.

I almost guarantee you that he is about the same QB as Pat White...

I think that is what all we Cat fans are hoping for, whether Pulley is at that level yet, I don't think anyone knows that except for the players and coaches.

You can't sit out a year and expect to have the timing down.

I wouldn't count on a kid that let you down. He would have to prove himself before I would invest any time into him.

Curtis Pulley brings a lot to the table.....both Kentucky's table and the table of the defensive coordinators scheming to defend him each Saturday next fall.

He is a very gifted athlete, but needs repetition, repetition, and more repetition to be successful in the SEC. He certainly has the physical ability.
