Purplehaze, it saddens me that you and your wife won't be able to make it up this Friday. I has hoping to finally meet the BG "Dynamic Duo":ylsuper:

 

Having played some very good BG teams in the mid-90's, I have a ton of respect for the Purples program. They have tremendous athletes and play the game with toughness and at a very fast pace. Even on a "down" year for BG, you have to bring it to beat the Purples.

 

As for the game this Friday OHS will have to find some ways to score in order for OHS to have a chance. BG has a very explosive offense, and RB Jared Carpenter and Lavance Anderson are real speedy. Not to mention WR DL Moore and TE Ryan Wallace getting good passes from the QB Steelman. Its a defenses nightmare. But fortunatly for OHS they have one of the best defenses in all of Kentucky. But the Red Devils will have to move the ball in order not to put thier defense in bad field position all night. BG will make you pay if thats the case.

 

In the end I just dont think the Red Devils have enough offense to pull out a victory. If that is the case, then I want BG to win it all. I have no good feeling twords Highlands. They beat us in 99 and 00 for the titles and I would love to see their hearts broke as well. Go Devils!

If Bg doesn't give up a special teams touchdown or allow Owensboro to score while on Defense, I will go with BG. If Owensboro does either I think it will be a nailbiter. Should be a great high school football game in a great atmosphere.

Just a little quote from Bowling Green's Coach Wallace I saw in the paper::argue:

 

Kevin Wallace, head coach at Bowling Green, isn't thinking about the history of the rivalry.

 

"This game is too important to get caught up in that kind of stuff," Wallace said.

 

Still, the rivalry has generated some heat because of the tough games the teams have played through the years.

 

"I don't care who we are playing, but there is not a love in my heart for Owensboro," Wallace told The Daily News in Bowling Green.

 

OHS coach Joe Prince followed suit after he had read that story.

 

"Obviously, we want to beat them," Prince said. "There's no love in my heart for them either."

 

If you don't have tickets to this slugfest you better get them because this is not going to be a football game it is going to be a war!!! :fight:

What's he supposed to say....that's he thrilled to be going back there to play? Come on...this is football afterall. Last time I checked there's never a lot of love for any football team you're fixing to play. (especially when it's state semi's)

I would like to see Owensboro win this one, but I just don't see it happening. Owensboro's defense is good, but Bowling Green did put up 28 against Trinity, more than any other team this year except Cincy St. X. I think the Purples will be able to score against the Red Devils. Unfortunately I don't think the Red Devils offense will be able to keep them in the game.
