Agreed, Setty can flat out play. Him and Darius have to be the best 1-2 punch in the state. However Euton and Jackson are a great one as well!

Kinda a bad thing to bring up as I have stated on this site before , comparing one boy against another, especially on the same team. Things like this could create bad feelings between those boys and hurt the team. Both are fine ball players and we should leave it that way.

Did Barner get to play? JV or varsoty?

Sounds like RH and Elliot co. will be a battle. Mason also sounds like they are loaded, I am thinking with their size and depth they should be there in the end.

At last year's Harrison County's Panorama things got ugly early; Euton sat the entire second half. Jackson went wild but without Euton there to help, it was pretty much one against five.

 

I assumed that Rose Hill would make a much better showing this year than last year. Obviously the question is whether or not the "big two" will have enough help from the role players to get to Rupp.

 

Who were the starters for each team? We all know what Euton, Jackson, Miller, Setty and Middleton will bring to the table. What about the other players? While 90-69 looks to be an impressive score for Mason County, scrimmages can be deceiving.

 

Did Mason County get a lot of their scores off of turnovers? How was the three-point shooting? Is there an inside presence besides Darius? Did Mason County's vaunted freshmen play well in the JV game (how did Gilbert, Setty, Pawsat and company) look?

Barner Started JV and was 6th man for Varsity.Hes still learning but he rebounds and plays Defense well.Ill let a Rose Hill supporter speak on them so ill stick with just Mason County.Mason was deep Darius didn't score a lot in this game id say 14 or so points Middleton led the Royals in points with a lot of easy runouts.Mason looked very good this early as they faced a very good Rose Hill team and the score is not deceiving because Rose Hill had there 2 studs on the floor almost the whole scrimmage.As for the freshman they looked good in the JV scrimmage i saw till halftime Treg Setty started JV as they built a big lead 41-11(but RH had a few 8th graders on the floor in JV to there defense).Overall both teams played hard and come away healthy afterwards and id wouldn't be surprised to see both in Rupp come March.

An answer to mcpapa. Yes, Phil did get to play. He played more in the varsity game than the JV. He looked good in his first showing as a Royal. Very long and athletic and pulled down quite a few rebounds while he was on the floor. He is only going to get better with being surrounded with such a good team. He can get off the floor!

Yeah, he got to play varsity, as well as JV. Barner looked good on the defensive side with rebounding and battling with Euton.

Good to hear that Barner showed well on defense. Mason County has to replace Pawsat as a stopper on defense this year.

I would have loved to see this scrimmage. Not familer with the name Barner for Mason Co..is he a Freshman?

Nope he's a transfer from Lex, he's a soph.

The Mason Co. started Middleton, Setty, Miller, Downing, and King. That seems to be what the starting lineup will look like all year. They are going to be tough to beat.

 

Mason did not play their football players very much since they have not been practicing. Jeremy Thompson, Jackson Tolle, and Westin Stahl should give them quality minutes along with Ryan Hamm and Phil Barnes.

 

And if you missed it, Darius had a ridiculous dunk. A Mason player missed a shot that hit hard off the rim and Darius came from about a step from the free throw line and threw it down HARD. It was one of those dunks you could hear! Should be a great year for the Royals.

 

As for the other Royals (Rose Hill), they have some work to do. They have two VERY strong players, with definate D-I talent, but besides that, they seemed pretty weak. If they want to make a run at the 16th or make some noise in the state, they will have to have a few other "role players" step up.
