Bug, the man didn't haven't a prepared speech. Some of the questions from the Saban haters are asked just for one thing. I've spoke in front of people before and I've said things that didn't make sense or I wish I could take back. We all have seen Coaches lose it before...remember the Cowboy coach who got on the female reporter a few weks ago.

 

Like I said before these people don't care for Nick and its a daily thing he goes through. In Bama we all know his pressers are gonna go different ways, but the name calling on here isn't fun to see. When I watched the presser on Monday I was yelling at the reporter.

 

 

What in the world are you talking about? What question was asked that would excuse Slick Nick for invoking 9/11 and Pearl Harbor? Are reporters actually that smart to phrase a question that would cause one to use those two incidents in the answer to a football question?

If you understand what his analogy was you would see how people pull for each other and come together when your world is crashing. To these kids their world is crashing, he is not comparing a football loss to 9-11 or Pearle Harbor. However, I find it kind of interesting that on the night UK lost to Gardner Webb, if you were observing the traffic and general mood on TCP, and too a lesser degree the mood on BGP, you would think the equivalent of something tragic had happened to Wildcat Nation, given the gross overreaction to a loss that will never mean much in the grand scheme of things. These things happen when passion goes over the line; I would bet the Alabama football boards were on similar meltdown as TCP, if not worse.

I spent 20 years in the army, and comments like this make me question where we are at as a nation at times. Is someone in a position like this really comparing a rivalry football game to sneak attacks which killed thousands and pulled us into war???? Freedom of speech should always be protected, but some people should have a "time out" from this right.

I honestly think something is not quite right with Saban, and ask any vet or current military member which they think is worse, being in the sandbox, just getting out of the sandbox, waiting to go to the sandbox or a football game. I can tell you right now which one is preferable to the rest.

I've never been to TCP so I can't speak to the level of pandemonium over there that night.

 

However, I can tell you that two days later most of those beside themselves had the game in it's proper context. Right? Also, if a UK fan had come on that night (or the next morning) and likened that game (vs. G-Webb) to a sneak attack at Pearl Harbor or in NYC nearly everyone on this board would have jumped up and hammered that person. You agree?
