Lloyd Carr's Press Conference

Featured Replies

Congrats to LLoyd Carr on his retirement. He is a class guy and did a very good job in a high pressure job. I liked Carr although Im anxious for the next era of UM football.....

So is he gonna retire or what? And if so is he gonna coach in the bowl game?

The article I read said he would coach their bowl game.

Yeah, I just read the article too. Thanks :thumb:

I'd look for the next coach to be either LSU coach (and former Wolverine lineman) Les Miles, or Stanford coach (and former Wolverine QB) Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh has zero chance IMO. He blew that when he criticized UM for accepting atheltes who are not qualifed to be UM students.

Love or hate Michigan you have to respect Lloyd Carr, the man.

100% Correct:thumb:

I also heard today that WVU Coach Rich Rodriguez was high on the wish list. I just really think that they will get a "Michigan" man, L. Miles to me will be the next coach at the place up North.

If Rodriguez turned down the LSU job last year to stay at WVU, I don't see him leaving for Michigan.

I meant Alabama, not LSU. My mistake.

I don't think that he would leave either. I really don't know how "high" he is on the list. Like I said, it would suprise me if they hired anyone other than a coach with Michigan ties and preferably Bo Schembechler ties.

But hey, I am a Buckeye fan and really wish that Carr would have stayed forever. :D

Mr. Rambler as a buckeye fan I am quite sure that you would like Lloyd to stick around. We wish Cooper was still the sheriff in Columbus. Unlike some OSU fans you have alot of class and are realistic in your posts. My thougts as a UM follower are this: OSU has a GREAT coach with alot of class. He is propably the only coach in college football that has his team prepared on a weekly basis. He does not lose to teams that he is supposed to beat. Example of this is this year. Untill the Illinois game he and OSU was blamed for being #1 when all they did was beat teams they were supposed to. If everyone else would have done the same they would have been ranked 9th or 10th in the nation. LLoyd Carr on the other hand is also one of the classiest people to ever coach in college sports. He graduates his kids and the thought of an NCAA infraction would never happen under his reigns. The Michigan Football circumstance is so close to Tubby Smith and UK basketball. Both programs expect excellence beyond most people's expectations. So very good is not good enough. As for his successor it will most likely be Les Miles. His intensity will bring back the old "Bo" vs "Woody" rivalry. If Les does not take the job I look for Brian Kelly from Cincy to get serious looks. ( Of course a certain poster on this website that thinks he knows everything will disagree. He is the same person that wants to pat himself on the back for predicting LLoyd will resign when everyone that follows Um football saw this coming since last year.Sorry about that.) I personaly would like to see Gruden but that I think is only talk of the media.

Thank you and I have a lot of respect for Michigan Football.

I don't know if the old "Bo vs. Woody" scenerio would ever be back just due to the fact that Tressel is not as animated or "firey" as Woody was. I would not trade Jim Tressel for any other coach in the country. His record and accomplishements speak for themselves. Lloyd Carr wasn't the only one that was consistently beaten by Tressel, practically everyone was. A question was ask of Carr in today's presser of "when did you know that you were going to retire" - Coach Carr answered...before the season. So I would think that others that needed to know it knew as well. I think practically everyone saw this coming and his retirng was not any major suprise. Again, I wish Lloyd Carr the best of luck in his retirement, the man is all class. All of my "shots' at him and Michigan (meatchicken:D) were/are all in good fun with rivalry that I believe both teams/schools respect the other.

100% agreed. My very best friend in the entire world is an OSU fan. He and I fight like brothers when it it come to this game. I think it actualy makes our friendship what it is. He puts me in my place (for the last 7 yrs) and I do the same to him (for the 12 yrs prior). If anyone thinks this is not the best rivalry in sport they have never experienced it.

Wow, Brian Kelley (UC) mentioned as a possible replacement. - per ESPN

I would add Alabama/Auburn to that one.

UM is looking for a Carr with Les Miles.

I'm here all week.

Haha.. I saw that sign on Gameday too, pretty good.
