November 15, 200718 yr At a quick glance, 5 of 20 remaining teams in Indiana football playoffs are private schools. 9 of 48 of those still alive in Ohio are private schools. 12 of 96 still playing in Kentucky are private schools. My point is these numbers are comparable and there is no public discussion of separation in our northern neighbors state associations.

Actually, I believe the sentimate is there in both states to "look at the problem". I don't believe anything formal through the HSAA has occured though.

Lot of discussion among the coaches but no Prop 20 had came out to force it into the limelight.
November 15, 200718 yr I was going to say the same thing that Leonidas said, wait till the final 8, semi's and finals and look again! Then post the results.
November 15, 200718 yr How many private schools in the state of Kentucky play football? Good Point. Also here in Ohio of the 9 privates left 4 are Division VI schools which is the smallest division in Ohio. There is one in each of the other Divisions.

November 15, 200718 yr Wow! So, 12 of the 15 are still playing. I would like to keep a running record after tomorrows games.

I'm fairly neutral on this issue, but I don't think that helps your argument. Rather, I think that would advance the position that privates have an inherent advantage and that it's unfair to put them against public schools.
November 15, 200718 yr "You guys just don't try hard enough to win. That's your problem." If, nationwide, private schools make up 1/3 of the top 25 teams, MAYBE the variable in question isn't effort.
November 15, 200718 yr That's a pretty condescending comment: "You guys just don't try hard enough to win. That's your problem." If, nationwide, private schools make up 1/3 of the top 25 teams, MAYBE the variable in question isn't effort. Meaning the other 2/3 are Public Schools that are complaining instead of getting it done. This is my last comment on this because this is not about football like this thread is supposed to be about. This is a Public/Private debate.

You're right Ram, those stats suggest an inherent private advantage in football. And, its not fair for the Butler and Seneca's of the world to have to play X and T. Maybe once every 50 years will those schools be cabable of beating the Tigers and Rocks. But think about this hypothetical: Xavieran Bros. sell Saint X high school and all of its assets on Poplar Level Rd. to the Jeffferson County Public School System--the school is now called Tiger Ultra Traditional. All former teachers, administrators, and coaches are retained--many receive state merit pay raises. This will represent Jefferson County's first experiment with an ALL BOYS high school since the 1950's. The focus of the school will be on educating young men of all backgrounds under a rigid system of discipline and academics. Dress code stays the same, dress pants and tie every day. Service to the community, 40 hours, is required to graduate. If successful, they plan on purchasing Assumption or Sacred Heart for girls. Religious education is eliminated. Tuition is free. There are no feeder middle schools designated. Enrollment is open to all boys in Jefferson County. You must take a 1/2 day entrance exam to become accepted. This is needed in order to place the student in the appropriate academic program. Enrollment is limited to 500 new students per year. If more than 500 apply, first come first serve. If 501 applications arrive the same day, one is randomly drawn out and placed on a waiting list. Question: Do you think Butler and Seneca and whoever will fare any better against Tiger Ultra Traditional?
November 15, 200718 yr Question: Do you think Butler and Seneca and whoever will fare any better against Tiger Ultra Traditional? I think T.U.T. would still be king. (Yeah I know, lame joke and I apologize in advance)
