November 15, 200718 yr Wow, Steinbrenner will make every attempt, to have a WS team take the field, in '08. I hope Girardi, can handle the scrutiny. We'll see what they do with Rivera and starting pitching...
November 15, 200718 yr We'll see what they do with Rivera and starting pitching...Excellent point and I've often wondered the following, in the free-agent signing market. 1) Do teams sign the best players, as they are available 2) Do Pitchers, wait to see what offensive players sign for Playoff contending clubs. 3) Do Defense/Hitters, wait to see what Pitchers sign for Playoff contending clubs. 4) None of the above, they just sign if the money is right....

November 15, 200718 yr IMO, they think about it a little bit but in the end, 4) trumps all others... As a wise person once said, "When someone says it's not about the money, it's usually about the money."
November 15, 200718 yr Looks like A-Rod is going back to the Yankees. BORING! The thing about this is that ARod is speaking to Cashman and dealing with the Yankees, without Boras. What does that say about Boras? Are his clients getting fed up with his tactics? ARod seems to be. Last I heard it was going to be between 8-10 years and 270+ million.
November 15, 200718 yr ^Boras will still get the clients because he can make teams offer more money. On a side note the Braves have "many millions more" to spend this offseason. This is a good sign for things to come!

The way I heard it, ARod wanted to go back to NY, but Steinbrenner's boy refused to work with Boras, and said if a deal is going to be made, ARod has to negotiate it by himself. While his clients may or may not be getting fed up with Boras, I think if more clubs take Hank's stance, Boras may be looking to retire or make a career change.

Boras is beginning to reap what he has sowed. Can't blame the Yank's stance on this. Maybe more teams will do the same and Boras may back down.

This is a good sign for things to come! I'm sure that Boras will. But, if the Yankees are successful in signing Alex without Boras, more teams will take notice and may take the same stance that the Yank's have.
November 16, 200718 yr Author Yahoo! Sports is saying that the anti-Boras talk isn't true, and that A-Rod and Boras were in Tampa together the past few days, but who knows if it is all true.
November 16, 200718 yr Yahoo! Sports is saying that the anti-Boras talk isn't true, and that A-Rod and Boras were in Tampa together the past few days, but who knows if it is all true. Well, Yahoo! Sports is wrong. Yanks and ARod agree to $275 million over 10 years and more if he sets the all-time home run record. While Alex was in Tampa, he was with his wife and they both spoke to Hank and Hal Steinbrenner. Boras wasn't anywhere near the talks. ARod

Too bad your link didn't work. :D Just kidding, and I don't believe Yahoo! either, I hope Boras is out with him.
November 17, 200718 yr On another Boras note, Kenny Rogers fired him today as his agent because Boras declined 2 offers from the Tigers for Rogers.
November 19, 200718 yr Jason LaRue is back in the NL Central, signing with the Cardinals -- one year, $850,000 with incentives. Cards also signed pitchers John Wasdin and former Rays first round pick Dewon Brazleton.
November 20, 200718 yr Jason LaRue is back in the NL Central, signing with the Cardinals -- one year, $850,000 with incentives. Cards also signed pitchers John Wasdin and former Rays first round pick Dewon Brazleton. Does he get incentive bonuses for cracking the .230 mark?
