Rose Hill 7th grade won the East Carter tournament by defeating Johnson Central 53-29.

Rose Hill 8th grade won the East Carter tournament by defeating Johnson Central 65-38.

 

Both teams seem to be talented....

And I am sure they will not be welcomed back with open arms.:thumb:

 

BTW...how come we never hear anything about Rose Hill Academic Teams? How well do their Academic teams do in Competition?

Hate to tell ya, but Boyd's Academic Teams normally win in this area, especially in the younger age groups.

Mr. Corleone, I know I'm not Sindoc, but I have had a pot and half of coffee this morning and don't have anyone here to talk to. Rose Hill has a lot of very good athletes in their grade school and junior high. Although the football team has not helped this year, it was only a middle school program, it will start helping next year if it progresses. More than one eighth grader on the football team would most likely move onto another school, where they are not "homegrown" just to play football. These are very good football players who will no doubt take a starting position from another child who deserves that position because they have been in the system since kindergarten.

 

I also see another good thing coming from the football team, that you would think others who are really interested in kids, being behind. With the addition of another local football team there are 22 new starting positions available for local athletes. More kids will get more playing time. I would think that would be a good thing.

Spindoc, you seem to be a Rose Hill supporter. Out of curiosity can you give us a break down on the kids in their program. How much has football helped?

Well, since we are talking about basketball feeder programs, I'd guess that the football team, which is in essence the basketball team, and the track team, and the baseball team,,,,,oh, you get the picture,,,,,has definitely added a dimension to RH athletics that was never there before. With the support of the Church and school, I hope it continues. I don't know how much having the football team has helped our basketball program. We have a bunch of solid athletes in the middle school grades. The football gives them some swagger and grittiness that is necessary IMO in todays basketball. And most of those kids get alot of AAU experience as well.

Rose Hill had one Academic team last year and 5 of the 8 team members won their district and went on to Regionals. That's a pretty good percentage if you ask me considering these students aren't taught specific topics and strategies during the day by their teachers as the public schools do.

 

The overall test scores for RH students are quite amazing. We have numerous students qualifying for the Duke Talent Search each year and many students have such high ACT composites that they are receiving complete scholarships to college.

 

Academics at RH are outstanding. When students transfer from a public school to RH, they usually find themselves behind in some subjects. Our only problem is with little funding. We are not blessed with all the technology and resources the publics have.

I thought you were talking about the younger kids. Best of luck to BC tonight. I was and still am from Fairview and we struggle at times, poorly coached teams usually do. Difference is I can admit it.
