Raceland needs to put as much effort and money in its elementary basketball as it does football. Imo, an I think they need to play outside their own school system starting in the 4th grade

Boyds 7th grade team is not bad....Got some talented players playin and some talented players not playin...

I saw Boyd's 7th and 8th play this weekend at East Carter. The 7th grade team was ok, they lost to Inez, the 8th grade team got destroyed. Someone said they hadn't won a game in 2 years. Elliott was not very strong in either grade, their 8th grade team lost by 40+ points. Verity looked decent in both, West had a very good 8th grade team, Wurtland beat East in 7th and 8th grade, neither school was very impressive. Lewis was not very good at all, lost to West by a ton in 8th grade. Overall, middle school basketball looked very weak. Rose Hill plays tonight, as does Johnson Central, maybe they will be better than what I have seen so far.

Elliott plays alot of 5th and 6th graders on their middle school team.

Lewis Co. has a fairly weak 8th grade program except for maybe one kid. There 7th grade team is playing two sixth graders who have talent but are still young. Once the sixth graders from around the county combine, they should be pretty good. I watched some of there AAU games last spring and they were pretty solid. Look for the sixth grade to produce some good ball players, along with maybe one from the 8th grade.

Aren't you a Raceland supporter? You'd better like Rose Hill's feeder system currently on you team this year you have three from there.

Ahh, you develop thick skin when you're a Rose Hill supporter. You get hacked on at every turn, Raceland (my alma mater, whom I played for frankly after transferring from Russell ) can't claim that they've had no influx of students. Currently there's a pipeline from Wurtland. This thread is about feeder systems from the middle school teams, yet it always turns into this. I hope that Raceland and their new high school coach take a hard look into the younger teams there, because there's not much preparation for those kids. JMHO.

I don't know who vol fan supports but if its Ashland, Boyd, Russell, Greenup, Raceland, and or Fairview they have all benefited from transfers. As a matter of fact I think Casey Davis played for all of them.

Did you get a chance to see JC and RH? How did they look, especially RH since they are from the 16th.

There is a big difference in recruiting and transferring because of academics.
