Heck the starting quarterback on Boyd's 2005 or 2006 football team was a questionable transfer from Lawrence.

 

How about the Kouns kid from Carter Co a few years back.

I personally cannot think of any kids in 7th Grade that did not attend Boyd County schools, except for one that went to Fairview last year for one year, but always lived and resided in Boyd County. 8th Grade I am not sure of completely and only one kid in the Freshman class that came from Ashland. Other than that, then I am not sure. I will take your word on it though.:thumb:

Now, my thoughts from someone that was raised and born in Boyd County is that the kids should be accepted for what they are, because they are kids, but they are not always welcomed with open arms. I have seen a few of these kids come in and take Starting positions away from kids that deserved them, that had already been in the System since Kindergarten, especially the one QB you are referring to. If you did a poll these kids are not as accepted in the Community as you think, but you still have to feel sorry for some of these young men and the lives they have lived. So it is a tough position for a lot of us. Most of the young men had so much controversy surrounding them, that they was not a big help anyway.

 

Corleone...You have made some very strong statements and personally have stepped on some toes of some people like myself that have no decision on whether these kids are at Boyd or not, and maybe that is vice-versa, but one thing we want talk about is the Life Decision or trouble of a child and for the record you shouldnt either.

You make a statement that Boyd has only born and bred county kids and then have to retract. Lance Evans went to Oakview. He's in the 7th grade. And then you went on to name others. Wow..how did I forget Evans...that is definetly another one, u are correct. Yes that group is a great group of boys...Of course there are about 7 Boyd County Storm Baseball Players on that team as well...:thumb::thumb:

I'm not saying that the Ramey Home situation is right, wrong, or indifferent. My stance is that all schools are guilty of the things that most 16th region posters blast RH for. You mentioned my school, my school is one of the area's biggest offenders. Look no further than Chris Jennings. That's why I don't attack Rose Hill.

This might be because other player got better, the player that started the year before didn't improve, someone moved in the school who was better, or any other reason that could be named. I thought this was high school athletics not college where coaches can pick and choose their players.

Spindoc, you seem to be a Rose Hill supporter. Out of curiosity can you give us a break down on the kids in their program. How much has football helped?

Mr. Corleone, I know I'm not Sindoc, but I have had a pot and half of coffee this morning and don't have anyone here to talk to. Rose Hill has a lot of very good athletes in their grade school and junior high. Although the football team has not helped this year, it was only a middle school program, it will start helping next year if it progresses. More than one eighth grader on the football team would most likely move onto another school, where they are not "homegrown" just to play football. These are very good football players who will no doubt take a starting position from another child who deserves that position because they have been in the system since kindergarten.

 

I also see another good thing coming from the football team, that you would think others who are really interested in kids, being behind. With the addition of another local football team there are 22 new starting positions available for local athletes. More kids will get more playing time. I would think that would be a good thing.
