A well coached and hard hitting PRP catches the Rams basking in the afterglow of the Male game and dwelling on the pending matchup with X to pull off the upset. PRP 20 - Manual 14.

The 'better coaced PRP upset of Manual' has been a trendy pick since Wolfe's arrival, but it keeps not happening. In Wolfe's tenure Manual has outscored PRP 32-16 on average.

 

Wolfe's a good coach, he has some good players, but I'm going with Manual here.

I see this as a close game as well. PRP's D line did an excellent job against X, especailly the first half. They were able to get pressure on Brutcher and bottle up our running attack. If Newman and Co. come out with that same intensity I can see Manual having problems moving the ball. I didn't see the first game between these two, did Manual get help from PRP turnovers in scoring 34 or did the offense do most of the damage?

Manual, which likely will play No. 7 PRP (3-4, 1-1) again in its playoff opener, left no doubt of its superiority by jumping ahead 14-0 on Joey Harness' touchdown passes of 10 and 40 yards to Cooper in the first quarter. The Crimsons later extended that margin to 21-0 at halftime and 34-0 before PRP scored with 7:55 left in the game.

Perhaps you are correct, 02Rams54. I just caught two of PRP's games and thought they were a team that had a few bad breaks but could've had a much better season. There is no doubt that Wolfe is a good coach, as is Nichols, in my opinion. When you throw in a post-Male letdown with the anticipation of the big rematch with X the ingredients are there are for an upset. But, as I noted above, this would not be the first time that PRP has left me with egg on my face. Good luck to the Rams, a classy team and a classy school. Who knows, this could be the year of the Ram!

By the way, it appears that PRP has three votes from X fans but that Manual has around nine votes from Tiger fans. :thumb:

Manual is focused. More so than I have seen them in the past. Both coaches and players no the goal and what it takes to get there. This will be a good game but Manual appears to be on a mission this year. I do not see PRP stopping their balanced attack. Manual gave St. Xavier the superior game and are hitting on all cylinders at the right time.

PRP definitely has the talent to win this came, but will they? Manual is playing as good of football as anyone now. This has to be the toughest 1st round match-up.

Why does it always seem like PRP has tons of talent, yet fold every season? I know they play a terribly tough schedule but is there any chance they catch up to the rest of the city powers? They were already behind St. X, Trinity and Male. Now Manual, Ballard and even Eastern and Fern Creek have moved past them.

It is very subjective to say that Eastern, Ballard and Fern Creek have moved past them. PRP has always been in a very tough district and this year is no different. Say what you will BUT this St. X/Manual/PRP district is still very hard to match. Although PRP is trying to rebound, they have played a very difficult schedule outside of their district and they will be a formidable opponent for anyone.

If Rhayven Smith is healthy, Manual wins this game easily. This is a dangerous game for Manual.

They beat Meade last year to advanced to round two where your Tigers pummelled them. Also my senior year in 02 we beat a North Hardin team with a forgotten QB called Woodson only to get beat by Male.

 

It's REALLY hard to get past 2/3 of the big 3.
