BigColonel Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Final. Both teams end dissapointing seasons.
gamer31 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Final. Both teams end dissapointing seasons. Maybe for Conner. I think Holmes made some great strides this season. Maybe not in the Wins column but Coach Lickert is well on his way of setting the foundation for years to come! Sometimes the lessons learned are more valuable than winning. If these young men at Holmes buy into the offseason and take care of business in the classroom as well as off the field there is no reason why thry cant make some pretty good noise in 5A. I have been saying for years, and I'm sure most others have as well, Holmes might be the most athletic team in Nky year in and year out. And NOW they have a coach that will get them going!
Eagle 4 Life Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Holmes finished the season on a good note. Coach Lickert will have that program turned around in no time.
Theoldguy Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 The big question is will he stay? He is a great coach, and I am sure there are schools from all around the area who are looking for solid coaches who can pay more money and offer a lot more to him than Cov Holmes. I hope he stays but......
gamer31 Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 What other jobs would appease him? I know of only 1 in NKY, and I think that one is a few years away from being opened. I also think it would have to be a pretty sweet pot for him to leave the area. But either way look out for the bulldogs... they are my 2008 sleeper team to do some damage in 5A!
stickymitts Posted November 4, 2007 Posted November 4, 2007 Final. Both teams end dissapointing seasons. Disagree. One dissapointing game for Holmes but all in all a good season. Rome wasn't built in a day. IMO, a lot more positives for these kids to dwell on than negatives. They have some talent coming up and will give a lot of people trouble. Maybe not next year but definitely in two or three...

chsol77 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Is the coaching staff at Conner going to be altered at all this offseason?

I think he built on some things that were started already, believe it or not. I am not trying to discount Coach Lickert at all he has done a great job. I am just saying that the corner was starting to be turned and hopefully he will continue to steer them around the bend.

DD - sometimes its not an issue of talent that needs to be fixed.
cats5262 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Is the coaching staff at Conner going to be altered at all this offseason? I have heard a rumor that Conner will be cleaning house, giving the boot to some coaches.
stickymitts Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 DD - sometimes its not an issue of talent that needs to be fixed. So eloquently put, I'm glad you beat me to it...
doubledeuce Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 DD - sometimes its not an issue of talent that needs to be fixed. Thats exactly what I was saying. I am also saying that there was more in place program wise than some might realize, because of the previous coach. As far as Conner goes, believe it or not they have a strong, organized, enthusiastic, and intense leader now who actually will move the program forward in the years to come. Like stated in the above post you can not fix talent ...or create it but it is coming with two strong classes moving up, from JV and Freshman.
greendevil Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 My question isn't so much about this year... but this week... Does anyone think that Coach L's whereabouts this week will be anywhere near Davis Field this Friday????:sssh: What do you think Gamer31???
gamer31 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I have to say there might be a sighting. SEABASS? STICKY? What do you all think?
