I'll answer your question. Even if the hospital claims to "write off" the bill, it will be paid by the public. Costs will increase on those who do pay to make up for whatever is lost by treating those who do not pay. Neither the hospital nor the doctors will lose. You can bet on that.

You are partly correct. Illegal immigrants are disproportionately put into the (prison) system. They also are a growing part of the gang problem in this country.

 

Few people would dispute that most illegal aliens are hard working people just trying to provide for their families, but we should not ignore the fact that many illegal aliens do not come to this country to make an honest living.

 

Until I saw some conclusive evidence to prove your statement, I would have to be counted among the few.

Bingo. If we were in the immigrants shoes we would do the same thing. If a company in the US made it clear that I could come and work for them and make a better living that I could in Mexico and therefore provide for my family, I'd sneak in as well.

The blame is solely on our sorry politicians who refuse to enforce our laws and perform their constitutional duties to protect this country. The federal government's unwillingness to enforce existing laws has left many employers with no choice but to hire illegals to stay in business. If all of your competitors hire illegal aliens and the government responds with a wink, a nod, and a driver's license, you either hire cheap labor too or you close your doors.

We, the hardworking American, also pay for healthcare for children whose parents live on welfare. Some of those parents cannot work, some can. We pay either way.

Regardless of what leaders agreed with it (and not all democratic leaders did), I did not. Therefore, my tax dollars going toward it are the same as your tax dollars going toward medical care of illegal immigrants.

 

I can defend illegal immigrants because I look at them as people. I have dealt with many of them on a personal basis. The ones that I know are here to make a better life for their families. I find their reasoning similar to that of my ancestors that came to America centuries ago.

 

There are many problems with illegal immigrants that need to be solved. However, we MUST find a way to allow those immigrants that just want to work for their families to be welcome to our country...make them guest workers (where they pay taxes) with the possibility of becoming a citizen after so many years.

 

Yet, to allow those that are in prison to stay is mind boggling to me. I am not sure how that works out.

 

I can similarly ask you, do you not have any sympathy and understanding for these people? Please don't respond that they have the opportunity to come through legal channels. The money required for that is a boundary that poor Mexicans cannot overcome.

We can debate the legal, illegal issue all we want. But the simple fact is, people get hurt, and the amount of money they make should have nothing to do with the quality or extent of their healthcare.

These are human beings were talking about. I am disgusted that you would discriminate medical treatment based on someone ethnicity. The simple fact is that someone is hurt, someone is in need of help. You dont just sit there and tell them, if they had come to the country legally, then your life would of worth sparing.
