letabrotherspeak Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Marvin Lewis is a dunce. Game turned on decision not to go for it with 2 mins to go in first half. Bottom line, that was a potential 14 point swing. Changes the whole complexion of the game. Instead of 21-6, it would have been 14-10 at best, and 14-3 at worst in my opinion. Huge swing on a coaching decision. Season over the week of Halloween. Honestly, there should be major off season changes. Firing Marvin won't happen but you can say it should. With the Brown family in charge, it won't. At least increase scouts or hire a GM. What is very apparent is Marvin Lewis is a coordinator at best...his continual mismanagement of the clock, player personnel development/drafting/free agent wooing and game decisions has cemented that thought. With that, Cincinnati continues to be a lame sports town. What to do...rake leaves which Paul Daugherty made famous. In Marvin We Trust to be replaced by In Marvin We're Screwed.

letabrotherspeak Posted October 28, 2007 Author Posted October 28, 2007 I listen to Marvin Lewis with Lapham afterwards, regarding settling for a FG, and he says he can't coach thinking that the defense might allow Pittsburgh to go 70 in 2 minutes by kicking the FG. Would be thinking to negatively. What in the wide world of sports is this dunce smoking? What does this signal to your offense which at one time was one of the most feared in the league and still rather potent? It signals your not good enough to get a yard. I think the players are generally miffed they didn't go for it. Going to get my rake.
GatorFan Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 They need to put people in who want to play and love the game!!!

The Reds haven't provided much relief, wallowing near the bottom of the NL Central for a few years now.
KillerCats09 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Can they turn things around with the addition of Chris Henry in a week or so?
HammerTime Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 If Henry is a Linebacker or Cornerback then yes.

Going to get my rake. letabrotherspeak: It also seems to say "Look, I know my defense can't cut it, so I can't risk going for a yard on fourth down and failing", 'cause he (Marvin) knows Pittsburgh (and a lot of other teams) COULD go 70 in two minutes vs. Bengals 'D'. Not a vote of confidence for offense or for the defense, either way. Shows extraordinary faith in special teams, for the field goal (Shayne Graham being one of the few consistent bright spots in a typical Cincinnati lost season). Lot of November raking to do.
All Play No Work Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 I listen to Marvin Lewis with Lapham afterwards, regarding settling for a FG, and he says he can't coach thinking that the defense might allow Pittsburgh to go 70 in 2 minutes by kicking the FG. I bought the explanation that he (Marvin) needed to call timeout because the play was so far away from the sidelines and the play clock was moving. I bought that he looked at the chains and saw it was not a first down, and maybe it was further than they originally thought. I bought that you don't worry about leaving two minutes on the clock because you expect your defense to hold the Steelers. I would buy kicking a Field Goal to get within one score and knowing you get the ball to start the second half............if the Bengals were on the road in Pittsburgh.............and if the Bengals were leading the division. HOWEVER, MARVIN YOU ARE AT HOME (in front of the largest crowd ever) AND YOU ARE IN LAST PLACE IN THE DIVISION. WHEN THE TIME CAME TO PULL THE TRIGGER, HE FROZE............
cshs81 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 : Going to get my rake. Lot of November raking to do. Hocking Hills is beautiful this time of year.
saint4 Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Leon Hall is horrible. Marvin is a horrible head coach, they need to go after Bill Cowher in the offseason, because that is the only person out there that will bring some maturity and chemestry to that team. Needless to say some discipline also. I think that defense is pretty talented, but they are SO immature that talent does not even come into play. Johnathon Joseph and Deltha O'Neal are pretty good corners, Williams and Jackson are decent, and Justin Smith is just a great defender, he probably works the hardest on the defense. They had a DE playing linebacker a few weeks ago, there is what they need. In the draft, they need to go after a Linebacker in the 1st and 2nd rounds. Woodyard will probably still be there in the 2nd round, take him. I hear that the 2 best linebackers are one off of Ohio State and one at Penn State. Take one of those with your top-10 pick. Horribly immature for a pro team.

More ridiculuous incompetence when it comes to coaching.

I'm watching a high school game and the team I root for is on offense just after recieving the ball (don't remember the exact scenario) anyway they realize they are a man short. Do they just go ahead and run the play? NO!! They call timeout! I just proved it. The Bangirls coaching staff and players are more inept than a high school team:irked: Man they suck:madman:
