October 27, 200718 yr Man, get her the Cat. She is only 10 once. This cat could change her belief in wishing for something and having it come true. You don't know what this could do for her instinct to love and take care of something that would depend on her. Make sure its a kitten. Maybe you could find a expert or breeder who could find a cetain Cat that would be a better fit. Or get info on the net and learn some things. Or how about a small breed puppy? October 27, 200718 yr I would definately go with the cat. We have a female that was about a year or two old when we found it. Best pet ever. Nice, calm, curls up with you on the couch. I think you just need to find a nice cat for her. I'm suggesting an older cat because they are calmer than kittens and don't go thru that adolescence stage. Females are a little less agressive I believe. Give it a try, I think it is refreshing that a kid these days asked for something as simple as a pet.

October 28, 200718 yr Dad, She will only be a little girl for a short time longer...give in to her innocent request. Years from now you will look back on this fondly. Don't have any regrets about what you didn't do for her. As for the cat "smell", you can avoid it by doing a few things. First, use crystal cat litter, not the sand/clay types. Teach the new "mommie" to change the litter box daily.
October 29, 200718 yr Author The iPod is a given. I will probably give in on the cat as well. My daughter is a precious little angel and puts up with a lot from three older brothers. She is loving, kind and smart so I am sure she will have learned from her previous kitty-mommy mistakes to be a better one. I will keep you posted.

If you know someone with a farm and barn cats they're usually a little tougher about being outdoors, and have pretty strong survival instincts regarding the coyotes, dogs, etc.
