Would seem to be a mis-match by won/loss records but is it?

 

Newport just edged out by Holy Cross last week in the last minutes.

Last year Newport shut Dayton out. Can they stop those Greendevils again?

What if Newport plays as well or better as they did last week? Holy Cross stayed within 14 of both NewCath and Beechwood and Newport had them down late in the fourth quarter.

IMO -- Newport seemed to come together against Holy Cross. That game could have put a spark into the cats. Newport had a lot of new faces out there and just maybe those players made a difference. Dayton has a good team this year and they play as a team. But I think the cats might just surprise us in this one.

When was the last time Newport had this record ? The past three games Dayton has dominated opposing teams Lloyd 46-14, Bellevue 35-8, Brossart 56-0. I think they continue this trend with Newport. :thumb:

If Dayton comes out and plays how they can, they should handle them. But they best not get overconfident.

 

That said, this is senior night for 17 guys that have busted their tails turning that program around for the past four years, so I would expect them focused.

Dayton in a semi-close one. Close in first half, pulls away in the second.

Newport shocked me in how well they played with Holy Cross. But then again Holy Cross has been the most inconsistent team in NKY, with playing NCC and Beechwood close and then disappointing in a few other games. If this game wasn't senior night I would expect it to be somewhat close with Dayton still winning, but there are 16 or 17 seniors on this team and they will come out as focused as they can be so Dayton by a few touchdowns.
