I was impressed with how well Newport played last week despite the loss....I have heard though that there is a possiblity Coach Hyder won't be back next year? Do any of the Newport faithful know anything about that? Is it just a rumor (which is my guess)?

I figured that it was a rumor...I know they have had a down year this year, but as usual, there is someone who is ready to write the coach off as soon as he has one down year or doesn't win state.

 

I am glad to see him stay...it would be the best thing for the program.

They have a lot of great athletes. They are sound defensively and play hard. If they had consistency on Offense they would be a lot better football team. They run too many formations and a lot of different plays, they need to keep it simple. That is how they played with Holy Cross. They did not do a bunch of trick plays and played sound, fundamental football. If they do that the game will be well played and hard fought. I still give Dayton the advantage, too many weopons on O and great D.

Newport is struggling this year, ill say Dayton with an easy win 35-7.

Look for a hard hitting defense of war!! Dayton has a great team and good coaching. But them same boys have never beat Newports players ever, not even in the Youth the league.
