I noticed Westsider in the crowd, he will be the best bet at getting a truly unbiased take on this one and the Cards and Fulton City. He is likely out hitting the bars right now but maybe he will give us his take later

You are largely correct, Mayfield was without 3 starters, 2 of which go both ways. 2 due to ejection last week and 1 was kicked off team for his antics in the same game. The Cards QB was one of the kids ejected and had to sit out. His backup is out with a broke arm leaving a freshman in Luke Guhy. Guhy will be a good one but his passing is not that of the starter and he is not a threat to run as is the starter. Fulton does deserve alot of credit though, they flat out did what they had to do. Mayfield is likely better than they showed and will likely get a 2nd chance in the playoffs and should do so with a full deck. Mayfield is also a young team for the most part and I think ther unexpected fast start got alot of people thinking they are better than they are. For the most part I feel the WKY area is down which further made Mayfield look better. Make no mistakes they are very dangerous though and are capable of great things. They should be a favorites in the class in my opinion in the next couple years with some of the best talent in years getting more mature, bigger, stronger and faster

wow this is craziness, this sets up probablly the game of the year next week with Fulton and Lone Oak. The ground force vs. the air raid, who will win? It is pretty much the leading rusher in the state vs. the leading passer in the state.

What a stunning finish ... Fulton City scored three times in the last 90 seconds.

Mayfield lost this game on the offensive end. With a freshman backup quarterback, the Cardinals simply couldn't throw the ball effectively. There were times that Guhy had a man open, but he lacks the arm strength at this point to make the plays. McCuiston also dropped a big pass early in the game.

With Armstrong out, Fulton City knew they could afford to put 8-9-10 guys in the box and clog up Mayfield's running game. They did for much of the first half, but Mayfield seemed to wear down the defense in the second half, putting together two good scoring marches.

Defensively, Mayfield played well most of the night ... they got burned on three plays, Williams' touchdown run and the two passes on Fulton City's go-ahead drive. I didn't think the coverage was too bad on Williams' catch, but there was no one near the receiver on the touchdown pass.

Still, you have to wonder ... I read in the paper where Fulton City had completed seven passes all year, they were 0-for-the-night until the go-ahead drive. Then they hit on two big ones. Obviously, the secondary has to improve.

One more thing .. what was wrong with McNutt? He was short on a 25-yard field goal and didn't hit kickoffs very well, which was costly. Williams ran one back for a touchdown and another back to midfield that started the go-ahead drive.

On Fulton City ... Williams is a stud, a strong back with speed and the ability to run in the open field, but he nearly cost Fulton City with some bonehead plays like a forward lateral, another ill-advised lateral and a drop when he was throwing a halfback pass.

This Fulton City team is the most athletic non-Mayfield team in this district since the Fulton County bunch of the early 90s.

I think Mayfield is the better team with Armstrong on the field, but Fulton City earned the win and played with more emotion. I will expect the Cardinals to win the rematch, but they clearly know they have to be ready for a battle.

This game was a lot closer than the score indicates. Without Logan Armstrong Mayfield became one dimensional. After Williams 50 yard TD run Mayfield held him to only 41 more yards the rest of the game. The

FultonCity will have to answer this but is Mayfield the first team to hold him to under 100 yards? I will have to say that he is the best back I have seen this year.

First of all as a Fulton City Fan. I am ashamed at the way a few fans acted after the game. I can say this that none of the fans that went to center field were parents of players that I saw. Regardless of what other teams have done at center field after big games this was uncalled for.

Second rather FC won or loss this game would be tainted in Mayfields eyes. If Mayfield would have won all the post would say "Mayfield stomped FC with second string players." Now that FC won just about every post is saying this would have not happend if you were not missing three players.

This sets up a grest game in the second round. I just hope that we both make it there. The real test will be next week.

Great job to both teams!! Good luk in the playoffs.

In whose post did you find this nugget of information or is it just your opinion? If it is your opinion then you must be the one who think it is tainted.

Fulton City football players acted with class and did just what a team should do after a big win. Good job to the Fulton City players.

Your coach is another story all together.

No one has use the word "tainted" to describe Fulton City's win.

The head coach? Or one of the assistants?

Hasn't Armstrong been hurt w/a dislocated shld? How many games has he actually played in this yr?

What i was told by a Mayfield parent last night. He was not being rude just giving me his opion. All in all i think regardless of who played or who didnt play that was one of the best played games i have seen i a while.

I have seen Logan play a few times and he is a very talanted kid. I hope he can get that arm working right not only to finish out his HS years but, i look forward to see him at the next level.
