I believe!

I heard MANY say that they felt the opposite way.

 

I'm with you on this one. Our defense will probably have a tougher time, but I think our offense matches up better against Floridas defense. I didn't have a game party last week because I planned it for this week and the win over the Gators.

I believe ......they are 6-1 with alot of football left......UK fans more than any should know better. Finish, Finish...nothing short of 9-2 and Bowl win. This is what should be expected.

I didn't think they matched up well with LSU. I was wrong. I thought UL would outshoot them. I was wrong. I thought Arkansas was too tough a place to win for the Cats this year. I was wrong. I think that UF given 2 weeks of rest after 2 tough losses may be too much, .... I HOPE I am wrong yet again, but I like to think that I am also a realist. This game will be as tough if not tougher than the LSU game given the current situation UF finds themself in. BUT UK played them close in the swamp and the UK fans are learning how to be a GREAT football crowd.

 

But then again, this team has already exceeded what I thought they would do. I DO believe and will promise you this. If they beat UF on Saturday, I will not pick against them the rest of the year regardless of whom they play.

No offense, MT, but that's not exactly going out on a limb at that point. Even though the rest of our SEC schedule doesn't contain any cupcakes, none of them are in LSU & UF's league.

Just the fact that the UK-Florida game will be a game not a lop-sided pounding just makes me all giddy inside! The fact we can watch the game and have a reasonable expectation to win makes me feel warm and fuzzy!

Regardless of the outcome I hope this is not a one season fluke but the shape of things to come for Kentucky football.

The only big game I've picked UK to win all season is the South Carolina game...so, if you know what's good for you, you'll leave me alone and let me pick against UK in big time games...:lol:

 

It's not that I don't believe anyway. It's that I realize just how difficult these games are and what a tough 3 game stretch we're finishing here. Win or lose, the Cats are looking great from my view whether they're 7-1 or 6-2...had you told me that when the season started, I'd have been elated...so, there's no reason to not be now.

 

I predicted 7-5 when the season started, with an outside chance at 8-4. Now, it seems that 8-4 will be a worst case scenario if UK takes care of business against Vandy and MSU. Of the UF, UGA and UT games, I truly expect UK to get at least one W, so now I'm expecting 9-3, with a worst case of 8-4. And for me, that is really exciting to think that the Wildcats have a tremendous chance to win 10 games counting their bowl game.

 

On the flipside, I realize that if UK loses it's focus and overlooks either Vandy or MSU, they could very well lose those games and really put a damper on this season. It's really important that we don't lose our focus in those two very winnable games being sandwiched between a brutal three game stretch and big games against UGA and Tennessee to close the season.

 

One game at a time and things will be fine...

Its so hard to beat down the pessimistic side of UK history. I WANT to believe, I really do. :argue:

I still don't think UK is going to get any respect outside of the bluegrass even if they win this game.

 

You might be right. I think the biggest issue they face is the lack of consistency in the football program. I think it is hard for teams that have been whipping up on them for years to give them to much credit. These teams can say "well we had a bad game", "we underestimated UK" blah, blah..

If UK has several good years of beating these top teams people will change their tune.

No offense taken and I agree. I have picked all season based on what I see on both teams, and just think that UF's situation dictates more desperation on their side that UK does not have right now. I felt all along that their best shot at a win between the LSU and UF game was LSU IF they defeated UF. I still believe that this UK team is the best I have seen since 1977, and definitely easier to cheer for given what they have overcome to get here. So do I believe, ... absolutely. But just because I think they may lose to UF doesn't mean I don't have faith in them, ... just that the situation for UF is such that they are in a MUST win whereas UK is not. But if they can beat an angry Gator team who has had 2 weeks off and desperately needs a win, ... I cannot pick against them for the remainder of the season, because this may be their biggest test to date.

Very good point. Heard an announcer on ESPN say last night that a Harris Poll voter stated that he didn't vote USF high because he 'hadn't seen them at all this season and that based on what LSU had done the past 100 years, he couldn't vote USF over them in the poll.' That is exactly your point. Too many don't give UK any real credit because while they have been excellent the past 13 games (11-2), they haven't sustained it for a long period of time at any point in their football history. Same could be said for UL last year. Many weren't considering them a 'paper tiger' as they hadn't done it for 100 years and underestimated how good that UL team really was.

 

But much like UConn in hoops who didn't get a lot of respect until they showed season after season after season under Calhoun that they were a top notch team, .. then was voted very high in a preseason poll last year even having lost the bulk of their team. They earned a reputation they overcame (since undercame isn't a word) with a weaker team. This year's UK team is having to overcome the overall history of UK football and not just what they have done the past 13 games.
