What killed The Stables was bad timing and a sloppy start. They actually shut down for a while to try to get better organized. This bad PR, and the resulting word-of-mouth doomed them.

April 4, 200818 yr My wife and I ate there a few weeks back. The interior definitely looks a lot better, however it was not enough to cover for the lack of service and the extremely mediocre food. I had the rueben, my wife had a burger. Quick bit to eat however it was pathetic. My rueben had about two ounces of meat and even less sauerkraut. There was literally about a half an inch of untouched bread on the outside of the sandwich because of the lack of substance. My wifes burger might have been the size of the mini's at Ruby Tuesdays. The best meal of all was probably the little one's grilled cheese. It was larger than both of our meals combined. They took the grilled part to heart however, it was like charcoal on the outsides. Needless to say we all left looking for something else to snack on. Its one thing for me to leave hungry, but my wife is not a big eater. We will not return. Next time you want to get a Burger and a Rueben for lunch, go to Detroit Joes in Newport.
April 4, 200818 yr My 85 yr old Grandmother has gone to the Green Derby every Friday night I believe for the last 25 yrs. They have excellent Halibut down there. The crowd is definitely a mature one at best. Stables never got my dollar, after they told those servers that had been there over 20 yrs to hit the bricks I didnt have any interest in giving them my money. As far as what should go there, I think something like Cheddars or a bigger AppleBees. When they built that Applebees by NKU, they really screwed up. WAY TOO SMALL. Hooters food is terrible by the way but never went there for the food anyway.
