Who wins this week and why...can Calloway County use their spread offense and passing attack to put up some points on Mayfield? Can Mayfield's secondary shut down the receivers for Calloway...and can Calloway's defense shut down Mayfield's array of weapons at the skill positions to pull off the upset at War Memorials Stadium.

I say that the CARDS come out focused, blitzing the Lakers QB into some turnovers and Mayfield wins this one 35-14

Has potential to be a great game. Mayfield has speed to try to man-up in secondary but can't sell out to pass with a bunch of healthy Laker RBs. Sr. Trey Travis might be at 100% for first time this year after two weeks to heal. Lakers airshow has seen blitz packages from several teams and has shown they know how to deal with it and have the weapons to do so. Question is how Laker defense responds. Good Mayfield team vs. probably underrated Calloway club. If Armstrong is totally healthy and goes both ways that tips it in favor of Cardinals. Upset would get Calloway deserved votes in rankings. Game doesn't mean that much to either since it's not a district contest but will be fun for all. Good to see the neighbors playing again after many years absence.

I agree...if everyone for Calloway is healthy then this should be a good matchup for both teams and serve both teams well come playoff time...for Mayfield going up against a team that has both a good passing game and can run the ball as well...for Calloway they get to go up against a storied program that plays about as well in all three phases of the game as you will find. Should be a fun time and I agree with Diamondog that is good to see the game back on the schedule.

Mayfield 28

Calloway 13

A good test for both teams but I'll give the advantage to Mayfield. The important game for Calloway is the following week against Hopkins Co Central for the #2 seed in the 1st round playoff. Calloway host this game but the winner will host the next & the winner will most likely play at Lone Oak for the District Championship.

Calloway certainly has the ability to win this game, but, Mayfield has been very workmanlike all year and seems to focus well each week and there defense has been very, very solid...I am not sure CC can keep all the Cardinal weapons in check, but, could make a few big plays and keep em around...I think Mayfield comes out focused and ready for the challenge....Mfd 38 CC 21

Mayfield will see some weapons from Calloway, but with the DB's Mayfield has and having Coach Lawson calling the "D" I think Mayfield wins this one pretty easily. I just don't see the Lakers scoring more than 7 points on Mayfield first team "D".

Should be a good matchup and I am glad to see Calloway back on the schedule...Mayfield's more diverse offense was REALLY clicking last week and will score some points Friday night Their kicking game should force Calloway to have long drives all night.

Mayfield-42

Calloway-13

Coach Lawson is the best around by far.

Here is the bottom line. Pretty much no one comes in to War Memorial Stadium to play Mayfield and wins. Calloway has not played Mayfield in a long time and does not know what it is like to play there.

Brockman has had some problems with int's this year and I don't see that changing against the Cards. Mayfield by 17.

Don't think Lakers will be intimidated. Still think this will be a good game. INTs haven't been a problem with the Lakers in some time. I think they've only had 3 or so in the last four games and QB only trails Robinson in passing in the region. Look for a close game. Not taking anything away from Mayfield since they're playing well and are solid. Just think CC is getting the Rodney Dangerfield treatment - no respect - at least from the fans around the region. Give em back three blown calls and they would be 6-0 against some good competition and would be the talk of west Ky. Calloway has nothing to lose in this game.

Blown calls, huh?

Let's see ... the Lakers gave up 48 points to Trigg County, lost a fourth-quarter lead against Marshall County and blew a 21-0 lead to Lone Oak.

I'd say there's more blame to go around than some "blown calls" ...

I think this game will be a little closer than some others do ... Mayfield 24-13.

Why do you think it will be closer? I say if Mayfield plays up to their capabilities they win by 3 to 4 td's. You have Mayfield rated as the #1 small school in WKY and Calloway gave up 48 to Trigg and even 30 to Murray, why do you think they will play better against the Cards? Looking at their schedule and at whom they have played,I see a very suspect defense that will have alot of trouble defending all of Mayfields weapons.

If I'm wrong, gloat all you want ... I just think the game will be competitive.

Snake, I agree, barring they play up to there capabilities, as you say. But, if they play a little sloppy and turn the ball over a few times, Calloway is capable of winning the game, no doubt. One thing that I feel good about though, is Mayfields pass defense. There corners have done a very good job keeping there man in front of them and limiting the big play and even though they're a little undersized on the line, there LBs are extremely quick and they get in the holes and fly to the ball against the run. With a stout defense and solid kicking game, that could well take them a long way this year...

No gloating, just looking for your reasons. So far, Mayfield has answered the bell every time this season. I have yet to see a truly lackluster performance. The time will come this season when they dont play their best but hopefully when that time comes they wil dig deep.
