Mack got to it before I could. They play who they have in their district. So does everyone else. Bellevue will be a good game for the Wildcats. For those who say they don't play anyone. Next year, Evarts goes away and another team will be picked up. IMO, Coach Browning could pick up another team from Northern Kentucky, Or maybe even a Henry County to increase his strength of schedule. Whoever it is, Gallatin County will be prepared.

 

Pigman said it best. Gallatin County is doing things the right way. Totally agree. All I know, they're 6-1 and going to the playoffs. Let's wait until next year to worry about it. There are still 3 games left this year for the Wildcats then the playoffs.

Gallatin is having a great year..so they deserve the credit. Good luck the rest of the season.

I think that the Gallatin v. Bellevue game will be the real test for the wildcats.

First of all you do not know anything about Evarts. I do. Their win total (4) is double that of Owen and Carroll (2) combined. At one point this season they were 9th in the AP poll.

The reason they are on on the schedule is that is Coach Browning's alma mater. The Cats played down there last season. This is their last year as a school. They will be part of the consolidation of Harlan Co. next year.

According to KHSAA, Evarts does not have the strongest schedule either. All that I am trying to say is that Gallatins schedule is not very strong, therefore are they as good as the 6-1 record? I know there is talent at Gallatin, Brown, Henson, Nunn, Florence, are all fine players, but I just do not see the team being as good as the record. As far as Owen and Carroll go, their schedule is pretty strong having CAL, DeSales, and Ludlow just to name a few. I look forward to seeing the Gallatin/Bellevue game. Wow that was harsh..I thought this thread was kind of a compliment to Gallatin County for discussion of their program.

 

Hey I wish we were having that kind of year that we could discuss strength of schedule but I do not think anyone is saying that you are not doing well.

Evarts wasn't in the top 10 in the preseason. They were 2-8 last year. They did make it to the top 10 after starting 4-0 but fell out after being upset by Jenkins.

 

Gallatin's schedule isn't extremely tough, but they have come a LONG way for a second-year program. Coach Browning has done a great job.

Gallatin can't help if the other teams they play are not living up to their expectations. They lined up across from them, played the games and except for Frankfort came out victorious. Is it their fault if a key player from one team or other was injured, or ill, and took the wind from that teams sails? How is it their fault if a program is having a down year such as Owen. Last year Owen drubbed them pretty good, so did Trimble. Give the kids from Gallatin some credit here...:thumb:

Gallatin is doing things the right way. Being only their second year of varsity football I wouldn't expect the schedule to be any different. You have to walk before you run. Now Eminence didn't play a district schedule for years and scheduled as many weak teams as possible and competeted in the 8 man league which no longer exists. Aside from doing something like that this is the way you are supposed to build a program. Schedule what you hope are some winnable games outside district play, and line up and play whoevers in your district. Although we( Frankfort) beat them soundly the score is not indicative as to what type of game it was. Gallatin moved the ball pretty well, but couldn't put in the endzone. I was very impressed with what I saw.

I do give the kids from Gallatin credit. I said in my last post that they have talent there. I agree 100% that Coach Browning and Gallatin Co. have done a good job this year. I just do not see them as a 6-1 team. I believe that the schedule has alot to do with their record. I am not, nor will I ever, take credit away from Gallatin boys or any boys/team for that matter. I just think that the record does not completely reflect the team. This is just my opinion, nothing personal at all, just stating my opinion on the matter just how everyone else has.
