September 26, 200719 yr I read some comment on the Courier Journal Website about scholarship athletes from T and X. I wonder if I could get the help of some of the T and X faithfiul and determine where the kids feeder schools are and you'll see that the vast majority are kids who played football at catholic elementary schools and they are kids going to catholic high schools. September 27, 200719 yr There are 43 names listed on your list, (give or take a few) how many kids dress between the varsity, JV, and freshman teams at these two schools? do those kids take no part in the success of these programs? Come on now.
September 27, 200719 yr I would say those are the ones that jimmyref knows off the top of his head. I think all Trinity/X posters will have full information available tomorrow, as the program for the Trinity/X game will contain all that info. At the BG game, I did a count of Trinity's team's #'s from Catholic parishes, and I can't remember exactly, but I think it was only 20 not from a Catholic parish. However of the ~20 not with a Catholic parish, 99% of them had a non-Catholic church affiliation listed next to their names.
September 27, 200719 yr At Trinity, for each of the past five the years the number of starters from Catholic grade schools and parishes has ranged from 18-20/22. This year the number is 19/22. It isn’t a secret, buy a game program and you can see the school/church from which the players enrolled. And by the way, if the total was 22/22 starters enrolling from non-Catholic schools/parishes, what is the point? Would this violate some KHSAA rule?

September 28, 200719 yr I have looked at the Trinity roster for the past several years. The percentage of non Catholic middle school kids is always higher for the student body as a whole than it is for the football team.

I say this as no slam at all and those who know my posts on Christian outreach in the P & R forum, no I am serious on the matter of outreach. A school is a great outreach for a Christian church to let unbelievers know about the love and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Curious TA, is that percentage, lean towards unbelievers or other Christian denominations?

Curious TA, is that percentage, lean towards unbelievers or other Christian denominations? I have no idea what you mean by "unbelievers". About 20 percent of the Trinity students are not Catholic. I suspect that most are from other Christian denominations, but when I was in school there was at least one Jewish student.

Oh and for what it's worth...WHY in the world are you up at 7:26 on a Saturday morning?!!? Get some sleep man!

October 1, 200719 yr I have no idea what you mean by "unbelievers". About 20 percent of the Trinity students are not Catholic. I suspect that most are from other Christian denominations, but when I was in school there was at least one Jewish student. Unbelievers is generally accepted to mean those that do not believe or have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
October 2, 200719 yr Unbelievers is generally accepted to mean those that do not believe or have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Let me start off by saying I understand both sides of the fence. However, the one I don't understand, and maybe you could shed some light on me, is how a kid that lives in Franklin County could go to Trinity. I know some kids go to Lexington Catholic because Franklin County is part of the Lexington Archdiocese but if that's the case, how did Trinity get the L____ kid? His brother and he both went to Elkhorn Middle School according to other posts and they live in the Frankfort area. Isn't that illegal???

He can live anywhere and go to Trinity as long as the parents and kid want to make the trip.
October 2, 200719 yr Unbelievers is generally accepted to mean those that do not believe or have not accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. I guess the expression bothers me. Everyone believes something. Calling those that have beliefs different from ours "unbelievers" sounds a little over the top.
