September 24, 200718 yr I used to really root for UL until I listened to and read all the crap UL fans were throwing out there since their tremendous bowl win over Wake Forest, and the winning streak over UK. We'll just wait and see if UL has the guts UK did last year after the beatdown from LSU. You're right rockmom what goes around comes around.
September 24, 200718 yr So, even though I'm not a UL fan who said anything derogatory about the UK program or team, or coach, you are going to treat anything I say as crap because I'm a UL fan? You're going to take the comments of a small handful (because there isn't many more than that) of UL posters on BGP and you're going to lord it over ALL of the UL posters? Very gracious of all of you. I wish many of you could look at the posts of posters like Watusi, LRCW and HSSB and several others, and see the logic, graciousness and class with which they post. Honestly, it's crap like the "we owe you" lines that make me want to quit posting altogether. Not one ounce of any logic in the hatred. Just pure, unadulterated, immature thought processes.
September 24, 200718 yr 1. I am very happy that U.L. has lost their chance this year, "IF" they ever had one to start with. 2. U.L. beating Kentucky during those years was not much of an accomplishment, a lot of teams beat U.K. during that time span. No big accomplishment there. 3. I am not blaming anyone for thinking that this year may be a year of "The Title" for U.L., I actually found it quite comical that anyone thought they might win it in the first place. JMO but they were never a threat for a NC. 4.A streak of top 15 ratings does not impress me as a national power, it does tell me that it is a pretty good football team but not a perinieal National Power. Besides , and I honestly don't know and don't care enough / am not going to look it up but how many years and/or consecutive years has U.L. been in the top 15? Just wondering. I along with quite afew others were and are having fun with the Cards basically bc a few (not all) of the U.L. faithful on here wer barking "Elite", "National Championship", "Unbeaten season", "Powerhouse" amoung others which none are true. That is all I was saying, nothing more - nothing less. My work here is done now. :thumb: I never said beating UK was an accomplishment, it's just that being a UK fan you seem to have the natural tendency to kick UofL while they're down, which speaks volumes of character. How can you find it comical that many thought we had a shot at the national title? If you're just trying to rile us up, that's fine, you're work is indeed done I guess (again, speaking of character), but it's just logical for many to assume that a team returning most of it's amazing offense and part of what WAS a really good defense is going to do really well. And how many years does one need to be a top team for them to be elite? That's an honest question. I have said it before, probably 3 times on this thread alone that I don't think UofL is elite, but they WOULD have been on their way. Look at it like a horse that wins by several lengths in the Derby and the Belmont or Preakness or whichever came next... unless you're an expert handicapper (which I am most definitely not and never claimed to be, just a fan of UofL), it's perfectly logical to assume that it'll win the triple crown. UofL broke it's leg on the first lap of the third race. That's how I see it. That alone has me dissappointed enough about the season, trust me. No UofL bashing by UK fans is going to somehow going to be worse than that.

September 24, 200718 yr Coming from a UofL fan that is hilarious...The UofL fans have "rubbed salt in the wounds" of UK fans during football season the past couple of years every chance they get....times are changing. I'm not going to pretend no UofL fan has ever been a poor winner, but to say that is pretty much bull here on BGP. Most of that probably comes from the rivalry itself, but I think most UofL fans on here really do hope UK does well outside of the rivalry. I for one (and obviously Rockmom as well) am happy for UK doing well... after so many years of drama, they're pulling off quite a season so far. I'm especially happy for my former teammate Keenan Burton, and I hope he runs the score up against everyone they face from here on out (unless somehow we end up in a bowl game against each other).
September 24, 200718 yr I would agree you and the three other UL fans you named are well informed thoughtful posters, as for the rest of them that's who my post was directed towards.
September 24, 200718 yr I am a UK fan and have not been much of a UL fan the past few years, but I get no satisfaction from "piling on" the UL fans when they are down(I do occasionally enjoy taking the opposite side when they are riding high though). The season is a long way from being over and I expect the Cards to right the ship and come out OK on the other side, plus UK has a tough road ahead and will taste some bitter defeats before the season is over. UL being a national power is all conjecture anyway as far as I'm concerned. What are the prerequisites to be considered for such status? They have been pretty good the last few years, as good as Ohio State, USC and the Florida's of the football world.......maybe not, but somewhere in the group behind them.
September 24, 200718 yr Wait... so the UK fans a gloating, and now they're lacking in character? Thats classic. This is a big rivalry game, and UofL has owned UK for several years, and was talking BIG TIME smack before this year. Before the game, UK fans were being caustiously optimistic while UofL fans yapped away about blowouts. Now that UK won you better believe that UK fans are going to let the UofL fans have it. I'm supposed to believe that it makes me a bad person because I can laugh at UofL getting beat by Syracuse (all the while, Cards fans are STILL saying its not that bad)? Everybody is wishing Douglas well and most are praising his and Brohm's perferformance (btw, saying Brohm won't win the Heismann doesn't mean we don't think he's a great QB). Don't get me wrong, I cringe at some of the stupid stuff people post on here, but to start questioning people's character is a bit extreme.

I for one did not say that you or Rockmom were not happy for U.K. doing well and/or bashing coach Brooks. I did enough of Brooks bashing myself, admitted it and have taken my serving of crow on that. My point was not to call anyone out as to "question character" as you did mine in your earlier post . I specifically stated "some" U.L. fans and didn't name anyone personally. I guess it was too much to expect the same but that is alright. I quoted post of U.L. fans that I either disagreed with something that was said or wanted to make a point/opinion on without naming personal names or again "questioning character". I will not make that mistake again, trust me. I guess that I have come to realize and admitt that all the U.L. post are correct and no one can question them or share a different opinion. This started by the way when you responded to a post/comment that I made on another poster and not yours. I don't mind and that is fine and within the rules and all, just that you were speaking for someone else. I did not quote you untill you came up on that one. Rest assured that I am done with the whole UK/UL football game threads and I was just having some fun with some that obviuosly could not take it when all the UK Wins thing started after the game. We saw avatars of a Cardinal running over a Wildcat, a pic of the U.K. loss to a couple of teams in big games and that was o.k., I didn't mind them at all. Then we see and/or post an avatar of a Wildcat choking a Cardinal after the game and/or a Cardinal being "cooked" at the Wildcat grill. -( not before to try and rub it in before the fact, that proved premature I believe:D .) be put down. That is o.k. also. I can take it. I am not trying to call anyone personally out. Just giving my opinion and now I am done.....................again. Have a nice rest of your season U.L., I have my opinions on who I hope wins each of you remaining games (mostly bc of "some" of your fans,( and not RM or yourself ram2003) but I will not post them anymore. :thumb:

But, on the flip side, I am taking no offense at the Cat holding the bedraggled Cardinal, so I kinda don't understand why you'd take offense. I only sport my Cards Running avatar until the UK/UL game is over, then I always switch it within a couple of weeks after the game. As I was not online until Monday after the game this year, I couldn't remove it more quickly. As far as I know, though, I was the only person sporting an avatar that could be construed as offensive to UK fans.

You were having fun with yours and so was I and some others with ours. If I was wrong in thinking "double standard" then I was wrong and apologize for that. There was one other one that I remember but will not name it or the poster, again - same as before and was not offensive to me I just thought that there was some sort of double standard.
September 25, 200718 yr Seems to me both sides are made up of pretty much the same kind of people...U of L fans were just able to take the high road for the most part over the last several years because they always won. Now that they've lost, we see the same reactions, just different fan base...some are gracious in defeat, some aren't...just like UK fans...what's funny is how some are upset, questioning character, etc. for things that UK fans have had to endure during 4 years of losses. Maybe they're right in doing that, but I would comment that we're seeing nothing new...the only thing new about it is that UK fans are on the winning side for a change. :thumb: I think the most enjoyable thing about this for me is to see other fan bases act like "UK fans"...
September 25, 200718 yr I will not make that mistake again, trust me. I guess that I have come to realize and admitt that all the U.L. post are correct and no one can question them or share a different opinion. Whew, FINALLY. But indeed, I took it too far on the character questioning, as it most definitely happens on both sides, so I apologize. (But it happens more on the UK fans side than UofLs:p:fire:)
