UK/UofL sets ESPN Classic viewership record

Featured Replies

How many teenagers period sit and watch an entire college football game that their team or a team that they are interested in playing for doesn't play in?

The comments I heard from several marginal UC recruits that have raised interest levels after watching the Oregon State game tells me otherwise. Teenagers don't hunt for games across 20 channels like we do. They watch ESPN and ABC for the most part...

I've yet to see evidence it gained them one either.

You think you can measure the positive effect on recruiting within a day or two after the game? And you've been following sports for how long? :D

UKM thinks he can rate it the other way... ;)

The game is going to be on ESPNU again at 2:30am for anyone up late or wanting to tape it and watch it again!! :ylsuper: or a :p depending on which side you are on.

You said it's hurt them in recruiting....I've seen nothing that leads me to believe that other than your speculation.

I'd like to see some proof of that.

But they already had some interest in UC, even if it was minimal. As AJG said, if a kid was considering schools like UT,UF, and Bama, you really think that game would have them start condisering UK?

I find it utterly hilarious that people are still talking about "what a stupid move UK made moving this game."

Did Rich Brooks think it gave his team an advantage to play in the 3rd game of the season?

YES HE DID.

Did UK win the football game over a top 10 ranked team and a huge in-state rivalry?

YES THEY DID.

Does Coach Brooks give a nickel for what certain people in the media and else where say?

NO HE DOES NOT!

I sure as heck did. My brother does, most of the teenagers I know do....

Was ESPN Classic even on when you were 16??? :p

 I have no clue, but I know it was when I was 18 and 19....:D

I'd like to see some proof of that.

Work hard at it for a few years and get a job talking to recruits on a regular basis...

Again, those were players already being recruited by UC. Not one that would have suddenly developed an interest from watching the game. If a player was already marginally intersted in UK I'm sure they've seen the highlights and heard who won.:thumb:

You guys are so defensive on this topic you'll never grasp where I was coming from on this entire argument. My original contention was that changing the game at UK wasn't going to save UK from the National Week 1 performances at UL. I can't seem to dig up what I had saved on the ESPN numbers from 05 right now. Give me a minute...

So you use your time with recruits asking what channels they watch?
