However Boyle County beat the Rock 21-0 in the AAA state final in '02. That may have been the last time, I'm not sure. :thumb:

Danville shut them out in the opener (Bob Allen Pigskin Classic) in 2005. The final score was 34-0.

Coach Hilton running his mouth concerning other programs after a big district win may help to explain why some other coaches want to have nothing to do with him. I would rather that they play, but then again I'm not the one who has to put up with him either.

 

Bell has proven that they are the best team in SE Ky this year........now that is something that we can agree upon.

Dudley Hilton is a great person and a really great coach that does a tremendous job helping young men build character and teaches them to play football as a teammate and not as an individual. A coach or program that doesnt want to continue a long standing competitive rivalry with a coach like Dudley Hilton IMO just doesnt get IT (what high school football is all about)

Did anyone else besides me see the post game interview with Tom Larkey? He didn't really give Bell much credit, and said something to the effect of just how Bell Co. FINALLY be Rock. Didn't show much class at all.

Larkey: Bell County has a great football team, they beat us tonight fair and square, I admired them for that, there will be another day when we might be given the opportunity to come back up here and avenge our loss, we beat them several times and tonight was a sweet victory for Bell County.

 

Hilton: Hard fought football game no question about it. The score doesn't indicate it. I thought Coach Larkey had his bunch ready. Those kids played hard but again give some credit to the Bobcats. We got six seniors they have five seniors. They have made us a better football team and we have made them a better football team. They don't run from us and we don't run from them. Thats why both clubs have a great football program.

 

I don't see anything classless or tasteless in either of the comments.

Being a Rockcastle County fan, I will have to say that I don't see what said by Coach Larkey that was so bad.

 

I watched the highlights on Sunday and was impressed with how BOTH coaches handled themselves after a tough, hard-fought game. Too many times these days you see/hear about coaches that let words flow from their mouths that they shouldn't following a game BUT these two coaches didn't do that on this occassion. Or at least that is my opinion on the situation.

I agree Statsman. Glad to have you back. Been wonderin' where you and 3 Wishes were. We need your assessment on the game and let's talk about "Rocky vs. Bell II" sequel playing on Log Mountain later this fall! LOL!

Some Corbin and Middlesboro fans are very defensive when they hear someone from Bell mention running from another team. It is obvious that the coaches from both of those programs threw in the white towel when scheduling Bell, their fans are both angered and embarrased over it.

From what I have been told, Coach Larkey met the team and coaches after the game to shake hands and congratulate them on the win, but had several smart mouth comments made to him and the other coaches by the Bell Co players. I am sure Coach Larkey was a little upset over all of this. Coach Hilton has also been upset after a few losses to Rock a few times and made comments after the game that was not appropriate but maybe not on the camera.

I think everyone is trying to make something out of nothing. 2 programs really fought hard as they do every year. Both teams respect each other and I can guarantee you Larkey and Hilton both go in to the offseason thinking about what they need to do to out work each other and get an edge on each other.

Great win for Bell County!!! Congrats to Coach Hilton and every player on that team and hats off to one heck of an excellent football program (Rockcastle). Since from what I hear and understand Rockcastle doesnt really like to be referred to as part of the mountains I must say that Bell County and Belfry year in year out are the class of the mountains and are coached by two of the best high school football coaches of all time not only in the mountains, but in the entire state of Kentucky.

I would bet that 'IF' any of Dudley's players got out of line and he found out about it, he did something about it. I would also bet that Dudley has taken his medicine 8 of the last 12 times these two teams have played with total class and respect for Rockcastle's coaches and players, because he is a class act and teaches his players class and respect.

The Bell-Rock game is now the only big game on the schedule for Bell as far as a rivalry or just a game that the fans are really excited about. Used to Middlesboro and Corbin were always huge games for Bell and ones that meant a lot. Now there are no other games on the schedule that constitute as a rivalry.
