Here's a picture of Merrick kicking the 56-yard field goal against Rockcastle with about 2 seconds left on the clock before half-time.

 

I thought it was really impressive how the field goal unit and the rest of the team on the sidelines just ran off the field and straight to the locker room after the kick. There was no excessive celebration by the team. They left that to the fans who were going crazy afterwards!

Yes it is. He is the starting TE this season as a freshman.

The Bell-Rock game is now the only big game on the schedule for Bell as far as a rivalry or just a game that the fans are really excited about. Used to Middlesboro and Corbin were always huge games for Bell and ones that meant a lot. Now there are no other games on the schedule that constitute as a rivalry.

 

 

True, but in a couple of more years I think Knox Central may fill the void.

I will have to say that from my experiences at Rockcastle County, we totally don't mind being referred to as being from the mountains....in fact, I am proud to say that I love being from the mountains. Not sure who you have heard that from though.

The rest of the Mountain Counties IMO are proud to have Rockastle included. Brad Durham and Jason Leger are representing the mountains very well at UK right now!

My only guess as to why we may not be referred to as a "Mountain" team is because of our famous Renfro Valley

I was watching a UK game earlier this year and got to see #66 and #75 right beside each other and it made me think of how far Coach Larkey and Saylor have brought this program.
