September 13, 200719 yr I think some fans in the NY/NJ are could use a little class. I'd venture to guess some of those same fans were in the Meadowlands cheering the Pennington injury. I guess they feel they can do what ever they wants since they were a doormat for decades.

September 13, 200719 yr cshs, I've watched your posts on here for a couple years (and enjoyed them), but this one surprises me. Yes, of course they recognize a difference between this school and other schools that come through there. Any time Navy, or Army, or Air Force come to play, there is a level of respect that is engendered (at least everywhere else I have seen) just by the sheer fact that they are there competing, and oh by the way, usually with a couple of regiments of cadets or midshipmen in full dress filling up a section of the stands. To somehow justfiy this as "its just young kids being stupid" ignores the vast body of evidence that young kids everywhere else seem to respect Navy. No, this is a Rutgers problem, its disgusting, and a symptom of something sicker going on there. My point is that the fact that it is Navy is irrelevant to the moronic students making the gestures. They would make it against Louisville. The fact that other schools , Louisvilel for example, are not so moronic is irrelevant. This is a Rutgers issue with a few stupid kids. The fact that its future military that are on the receiving end is just anecdotal and adds to the story but should not BE the story. The story should center around stupid kids. Now if you think they did this only because of the military angle, that's fine. We simply disagree. No condoning of anything. We simply should not be surprised that there are college kids who get drunk and run their mouth.
September 13, 200719 yr I don't believe that there is anything wrong with "talking a little smack" back and forth but this is way over the top. I can't blame it on the Rutgers administration, coaching staff or team but this action out of a student/fan section is a disgrace. No excuse for it at all.............you just can't fix Stupid . For a school to have just come out of their womens basketball program being the victims of some out of bounds D. Imus comments this is really bad but I guess they can blame it on drunken idiot college kids in a fan section. I also would be willing to bet that some of those same fans/students were up in arms and blasting Imus for his deragatory comments. I agree with another in that it is irrelavent who it was against.

Wouldn't you agree, that programs like Army, Navy and Air Force, deserve much more respect from fans, than this incident. These men and women, deserve more consideration. Agreed, that college students will often, display bad judgment but this happened and it is, what it is....a disgrace and even more so, because of Navy being the opponent.

I am currently in my third year at West Point/Army and I have much more to worry about in my life than some drunken kids chanting at my school. As a cadet I will say that I, and all the midshipmen at Navy, thank all of you who are respectful to us in both public and private settings. However, one of the reason's I am at this academy is so that people like the fans in question at Rutgers can chant whatever it is they want to at us. Heck, it is just football anyway. I know Army plays Rutgers later on this year so I will see how that goes. Go Army, Beat Navy!! :thumb:
