September 13, 200719 yr Well when someone says that a song was written because of 9/11 and its obviously not true, what do you expect? I have no problem with people remembering. But remembering doesn't mean living in mourning. You got to remember that the terrorists wanted to stop us in our tracks, knock us off our feet, make us hide, don sackcloth and weep. Remembering means remembering what your enemies did to you, just like at Pearl Harbor. But it also means getting on with life. It means not letting the attack have the effect on us that the terrorists hoped for. Unfortunately, all I've seen on TV is a reliving of the lives lost and families torn asunder, the sick rescuers and so forth. Hardly nothing has been said about how this country got sucker punched, banned together and went and kicked butt. I hate what they did, but I'm not going to waste anymore tears on it. If I do, they win. Imo it is remembering all of it and not just a few things. Repeating and going over the lost and their families absolutely should be done, to me anyway that is showing that we will never forget and will work to right the terrible act that was done to us by these maniacs. No one is running scared by doing this and certainly not showing weakness by shedding tears over what was done and the lost. That is also a part of banding together. Everyone is getting on with life, that has to be done but to just to not mention the facts and the lost to me anyway is disrespecful. I for one will always remember and will not forget all the innocent that perished on that awful day.
September 13, 200719 yr "Doesn't all this mourning, weeping and gnashing of teeth only serve to show the terrorists what a great victory the had over the Great Satan? Its six years later and we're still tearing our clothes and covering ourselves in the ashes of the WTC." You said all that (^) just because I mistakingly said a song came out after 9/11??? :thumb: :thumb: ........................ :walk:

One has nothing to do with the other. Do I have to make separate posts every time I quote someone? Aren't we allowed to have separate thoughts in the same post. I realize that some post padders don't do it that way, but... NEW THOUGHT So why is it wrong to show a strong face on 9/11? With all the whining that's being done about us in the middle east, this just adds fuel to that fire. I'm sure that the people there think we're nothing but a bunch of sissies. Had another word in mind, but didn't want to break any rules.

One has nothing to do with the other - showing sympathy has no reflection on the U.S. showing weakness nor does any post on this thread for that matter. No one on this thread anyway is doing anything of the sort. Should you think that they are just bc showing sympathy for the lost then I think that you may be confused. At least I haven't read anything like that into it. Imo we are showing a very strong face on 9/11 and going back to your original statement "one has nothing to do with the other". I for one feel can feel sympathy and sorrow for the famlies of the dead and feel strong on the task at hand in the Middle East. I won't go on about it anymore. I was just expressing the way I felt and what I believe others were, if I am wrong on their intentions I apologize.
September 13, 200719 yr How long will we sensationalize the event? I don't see everyone wailing and keening every year on Pearl Harbor Day, which was an attack on our soil. The Native Americans don't hold ceremonies to remember any of the many battles that were launched upon their land and nation. It's been 6 years. It's time to rebuild and move on. All this dramatizing every year is delaying the rebuilding process of the American psyche. Let it go, and move on. The enemy whens when we're mired down in memories. Achilles is right.
September 14, 200719 yr This country has kicked butt but they haven't gotten the man who caused all of this. I would comment on what I think of a certain man in charge but in this thread I won't. It has been six long years since this happened. If they can get Saddam why can't they get Bin Laden?? I watched all of the 9-11 shows the other night. The one that really got to me was "9-11 Search and Recover" This show really bothered me. If anyone didn't watch this show it was about all of the great men and women who risked their lives to recover the bodies of the victims. One thing that really bothered me is that when the Towers fell almost everyone's bodies just exploded. GOD IS THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THESE PEOPLE WENT THROUGH!!! I think it is time for Bush to go after the man who killed over 2,000 innocent Americans!!! THIS IS A VERY LONG TIME OVERDUE!!! I feel like you'd have a much different view of the subject if you lost a love one. Six years is not an eternity. It would be disgraceful to those lives lost if we didn't remember and mourn for them... If being a sissy is having feelings and remember, mourning, and praying for those lives, by all means, call me a sissy...
September 15, 200719 yr One should always remember things that hit us hard , I think it makes us stronger, not weaker.

I woke up at 5:00am on September 12th, 2001 to hear the new's on my radio - 300 firefighter's died trying to save the people in the falling tower's. I cried. If you want to move on buddy you can do it. Tell this to a family soldier who has served our country. And yes, my Grandmother was 1/2 American Native.
