Changed us forever

It was one heck of a day to have a birthday on. I will now always remember it that way. :irked:

I just heard a story about Bob Papa, the Giants radio announcer. He said that Flight 93 was the Giants charter plane from Denver that came in that night. Papa apparently said that they got in around 6AM, when they got off the plane and he saw the passengers ready to board the flight 93. He said he flew on flight 93 to san francisco a lot on business. Said he knew some of the flight attendants and they would say things about the Giants in passing. Said the most eerie thing was seeing the passengers and possibly even seeing the terrorists before they boarded the plane, sitting in the waiting area.

Such a sad day, and one I'll never forget. Not a day goes by really.....

I was in middle school then & I did not go to school that day because I had an eye appointment.

This is one day for my generation that everyone will remember exactly what they were doing when they found out....

I cannot even imagine what it would have been like to be in NYC. I remember exactly where I was when it happened and I remember thinking, "That's it. This is how World War III begins."

I was traveling that day and wound up stranded in Baltimore. and rode a Greyhound bus home.

 

That is the shortest I can make a very long story.

CBS 2 has video of the second plane altering it's course and heading right into the tower. My brother's father-in-law works on the 88th floor of the World Trade Center.

My sister is a flight attendant for American Airlines and she's based out of Newark, NJ. I can't get through to her house on the phone!!! This is truly gut-wrenching!!!

Witnessed the 1st Tower collapse. I live in the Bronx and from the playground in my complex we have a clear view of the WTC and the rest of the skyline. Myself and several neighbors were watching in disbelief at the burning buildings when suddenly, Tower 1 collapsed. I can't explain how surreal the whole thing was. Then a neighbor comes out with some kind of two-way or short wave radio, and we hear someone screaming that they were trapped and couldn't breath. It was gut wrenching, I had to walk away. All I can say, is that we have pray for the victims, their loved ones and hope the madness comes to end. God bless all.

My cousin was on UA93 that crashed outside of Camp David - just got a panicked call from my mom in NJ - I know this is only the beginning of a long list of BBI friends and relatives and acquaintances that we all have whose fate we don't yet know about - Let's Pray for them all!

I was watching the morning news and when they broke in they were saying it was a small plane . Then before they could get their story straight it happened again, and then again and I was thinking there was going to be another and another and I was so nervous I had to go into another room where there was no TV. I began cleaning. I then began to cry. We where being hit on our own soil , how could this happen to US the USA . No I will never forget, never forget.

I believe all of us were feeling that way and expressing it in different ways. I love the Alan Jackson song about this terrible day "Where were you when the world stopped turning". I break down every time I heard it then and I still do. That song describes a lot of the emotions that we all felt. Great Lyrics.

 

By the way and I forgot to mention this earlier, we should all take the time to acknowledge and thank out local emegency workers, paramedics, doctors, nurses,police, firemen, rescue squads, security personel, 911 operators.....all that are involved in any of this type work when we see them. Most of the time it is a thankless job and these ones are out there protecting our comunities and us every day.

 

Again as always thank anyone in our Mlitary for the awesome job that they do and have done no matter what the year/war or conflict. They are the ones that we have to thank for our freedom and privliges that we take for granted. (like being able to and having the right to post on boards like this one)
